Increase Vertical Jump

Does anyone have any tips or methods that actually worked for you in helping increase your vertical jump?

just jump a lot and incorporate jumping into your workout (and explosive lifts). wear weights on your calves when you go everywhere and when you jump. stretch like a mofo.

yeah one of the high jumpers for track in my school walks around school with weights on his ankles. He is rly good so i guess it works

Squat and do calf raises. just build up those muscles a ton. jumping rope is also great for feet work and building up those jumping muscles. also, get a plat form about mid thigh (or higher) high, we have them at school ranging from like shin, to knee, to thigh. i sometimes do the thigh high one. you just jump up, land on it, and hop back off. do it really quickly and a lot, you will be gasping for air and so tired from it. its pretty intense. be carefuly not to catch your toes under the platform, hitting it with you shins or knees on the way up really really hurts. dont slip off either, you will end up crying on the floor

Ya I already do a bunch of the stuff recommended in this thread, I'm just looking for the extra push, I have like a 36 inch vertical but when your the smallest one at 5'1'' on a highschool volleyball team its hard

try doing standing jumps in a pool with water as the resistance

any kind of plyometrics would help

set up a low hurdle in some sand and jump over it a bunch.

In ADDITION to what has been said, as plyometrics, squats, explosive lifts and such are all very good you may want to look into this kit, it all works together,

It's very expensive yes but maybe its what your looking for if your really serious.

On another note, biking is great for leg strength. Hill climbing especially, and yea you can get a roadbike to do this, but if you have the skills get a XC mountain bike, try to find your bike stores riding club (they normally have one) and ride with them.

Squat jumps, what I do is usually use about 50% of my max squat, and then squat ass to grass, but when you come up explode up into a jump.
