i don't think this is a good idea AT ALL. everyone already argues and makes stupid comments about post count and karma... do we really need another number system to judge peoples' validity and popularity? is this high school? can any staffers explain the point behind this? i don't mean to be such a debbie downer.. just wondering...

I am sorry to say but i find this feature not helpful (maybe progressive is a better word) for this site. Sure karma at least tells you if someone is legit(usually it has at least some indication) but profile views? Really? IMHO i think it really severs no purpose, just more squabbling, i just don't see anything positive coming from this change, that is all i am trying to say, constructive criticism.

I think that as soon as the profile views thing came about, it made the number of views kind of irrelevant. think about it.

now, i have an urge to look at peoples profiles, just to see how many views they have. this would give them one more view, but the number really only represents me wanting to see their number, and not care about who that person is. Add that to the fact that someone like Mr. Bishop would get less views because, well - we all know about Doug and people would probably check his profile less than a lower (yet more active in day to day stuff) member.

So you see, the profile views number shouldn't be thought of as something in the realm of karma and post counts, because it has no real value to it. I see it as more of a personal thing, where you can see (for pure curiosity) how many people actually look at your profile. It doesn't actually change anything.

well it is also changed by how many times they are sent messages because after you send someone a pm you view their profile and most of the time you just close the window. its interesting though. i think its kinda cool. so the real goal is to find the girl with the most profile views.

This is exactly why this feature needs to go already.

If people spent less time refreshing their profiles to get pointless page views and more time writing good, helpful posts I would bet this site would be alot better.
