Skiing Getting Frustrating

It really sucks, cause this season I'm spending more time being pissed while I ski than having fun. There's not much good stuff open on the mountain right now, so I've been spending most of my time in the park, and I haven't improved once since the start of the season. That pisses me off, cause it feels like I'm wasting my time if I'm not getting better. I just started going a lot last season, so I can kinda see why I'm not that great yet, but I'm ready to start getting better, and it's just not happening. Then, Mammoth is just getting so ridiculously crowded. The park is fucking swarming from the morning until about a half hour before the end of the day. That pisses me off too. The only time I really just enjoy myself is skiing the mountain, but now when I'm doing that I'm thinking about getting better in the park. At the end of every day this season, I've been pissed. And I know you'll all say I shouldn't be pissed cause I'm skiing and I live in Mammoth and all that, but I'm just not having fun skiing, so what's the point?

dont take it so seriously. dont worry about getting better. if you just ski, and have fun, progression will come on its own

you poor thing... you get to live in mammoth and ski one of the best parks in north america... while there is nothing open yet here. How do you manage?

^ Hey dumb ass, I said that I wasn't sad about living in Mammoth. No matter where I lived I'd still be pissed about not getting better. And it's obvious that nothing else is open; we've got every skier in the world here right now.

Ds, that's the thing. I don't wanna quit cause I've put so much money into it and I know I would regret it later, but I also hate coming home pissed everyday cause I'm no better than the day before.

yeah that happened to me today @ whis. i was getting pissed that there was no jumps and so i was getting sloppy on rails...fucked up my tailbone. but its all good...just wait a bit...im stoked

nobody gets better everyday, so dont beat yourself up when you dont, everyone has off days, the best thing you can do is laugh at yourself, cause if you start gettin down things only get worse, just go have fun, dont treat it like a job or somthing, its not, its a hobby, the only point of doing it is for fun, so if its not fun, either stop doin it or make it fun again or somthin

i was kinda in that state last year when we had shitty snow. i found that just getting out and goin back to the basics, kinda avioding the park, like try to find some good powder runs or something helped alot.

Well instead of tryign to get betetr all the itme try and work on the basic tricks except put more andm ore style into it work on things you cna do btu make them ebtetr start floating them, go bigger and if its corwded and you lvie at mammopth go build your own powder booter or something like that. just make sure its not too obviouse or youll get it destroyued by ppl who rnt good enough to use it properly

Ah, no worries man. Just sit back a little, and enjoy the fact that you are skiing. Its only November 23rd, and Mammoth at least has some snow. Out here on the East Coast theres not too much going on, and its about 50 degrees out now. Dont worry, you'll start improving. Im sure theres a lot of other guys out in Mammoth complaining about the crowds. We all have to deal with long liftlines, and people waiting to hit that sweet kicker in the park. After each day, even if you didn't improve, you still got to ski, and the only reason you should be skiing is because you have a dope time, and the more you ski, the more you'll improve naturally. Just relax and be happy you are skiing as early as November man. Ride on man.

this happened to me with skateboarding b/c i could never do a kickflip..
then the first day i landed a kickflip i fell rite after and my board got ran over by a truck..

work on things that you normally don't, e.g., working on making smooth turns when you ski switch, etc (if you can't already). think of innovative things to keep yourself entertained. if it makes you feel better, I won't be skiing for 3 or 4 more weeks :(
