I swear by all the 686 SMARTY stuff. Amazing outerwear, super warm, fit good, and I find they zip up pretty high on your face, so it's easy to duck for cover on a lift when it's a cold windy day.
Baselayer's also help a ton, get something like Under Armour Cold Gear, or Helly Hansen Lifa-Warm, and you'll be laughing
For actually skiing, nothing beats a one peice. You can fit so many layers underneath it, and you don't lose heat from under your jacket or above your pants. They're really convientient too, I wear a thermal base layer (top and bottom) and fleece pants and a fleece pullover in the car, then get to the mt. and pull the one piece on over the top of everything. I ski northern VT too so i know the kinda weather you'll be into. A one piece is the way to go.
