Hey man, sounds like your in a similar sit to me.
I was getting terrible shin bang at the end of last season so i did a lot of research into it and went to get fitted up for new boots today.
I'm a narrow, low volume foot so thought i'd try some Full Tilts because everyone says they work miracles. They felt like wellies on me, no way are they a genuine 98 last, but they are a lovely boot if they fit you. Go for the 09 Konflict because you get a soft and a stiff tongue with them, the rest are effectively the same boot but with different tongues and you can always buy parts and spares for the full tilts too.
As it happened they just didn't fit me so I was left with 2 other attractive options.
Lange Inferno
Salomon Ghost
Ended up with the ghost because it just fits me perfectly but the Lange Inferno is something to look at. They have gone to town on that tongue to cut out shin bang, it is MASSIVE and full of gel and has shock absorbing pads on it that take the pressure slightly off the very front of your shin.
Can't wait to ski my Ghosts, they feel lovely! Lace up liner, gel padded tongue, shock absorbing soles, massive power strap. Such a huge improvement over my last boots the Guns, which are pretty much the same shell.
