Portland is possibly the greatest city ever. Do not move here please :P
It rains tons, Portland gets no real snowfall. Just to clarify, we ski 12 months a year, not 9. The music scene blows, don't believe the hype...
I grew up in Portland. My family is from Vail... I was born in marin county cali... outside the bay. I got both worlds for YA. I learned to ski in Vail, family would move there for the winters to our house in Beaver Creek. Moved from Cali to Portland, grew up racing at Meadows. I would consider myself a Portland local, I grew up and went to highschool in the middle west side of the city (lincoln). I go to U of O now. Like the guy abovve said rocker is made for Hood! Pollard and Pep!! There is dry pow if you want to ski bach, hood is pretty thick, but that is the NW!!. Portland is fuckin sick. Really fun bar scene, lots of hot young girls running around. It was voted the number one place in US for young singles to live. It is small enough it won't take long to fit in and find your niche. The music scene is fine from what i hear/ experience, crystal ballroom off burnside and the roseland theatre always bring big artists/ underground hip hop and sick small venue concerts. The blazers are fuckin ballin this year and on the rise. There is a lot to do in portland. The beach is an hour away, its hot as hell in the summers.. every day. Good surfing. Hood is an hour away from the city. It snows maybe at best two weeks in the winter, you won't really see a lot of it unless you live in the hills of Portland. Yes Tupac is from cali and he is the shit, but cali Could be its own fuckin country if it wanted to. If you want good size, personal, outdoors, bomb ass women, greats seasons, rain... cause it does rain a lot, awesome summers, great bars/resturants come to Portland. IF you want to figure out which one of the 1,000 cities in Cali you will fit into. go for it. Also ,the real estate in Portland is $$$ ****an we ski 12 months out of the year****
Well, I stand corrected, you obviously have the expertise of a PhD level hydroclimatoligist from vacationing so much :P
