WTB: Editing computer HDV
I just got a Sony HDR_FX1 and my hp media center isn't holding up to well editing the hd footage, freezing extremely long rendering times etc. I am looking for a fairly powerful pc or mac, if its a pc it has to be a tower, not a laptop, but for mac I will accept either tower or laptop.
Prefer computer to have:
Quad core processor
64 bit operating system
2gb plus ram
500gb plus hard drive
You can build one for pretty cheap

2gb mem $60

ok ive decided to go with a macbook pro so hit me up with what youve got
buddy don't turn to the dark side
macintosh is a monopoly. unless you get hooked up big time, consider building yourself a compy
its easy, its a joy, and you wont regret it, as long as you know how to get cheap software
The pros of mac - Final Cut
The cons of mac - Price, price, price, and price.
up someone has to have a mbp
posting on here for debate.
mid-high range personal computer using intel
by no means perfect. didnt shop around for prices much and threw together kinda fast
a MBP with the specs you want is going to cost you a buttload more than you think and probably want to spend.
the new imac
2 gb ram
300 gb hdd
only the new and old imovie and adobe aftrer works
well my friend has a mbp that is 2.33 ghz dual processor with fcp and i was at his house yesterday trying to edit hd on it and it was actually real smooth and fairly quick......he has 3gb ram 320gb hd and he has external firewire hdd so i think im going to do that they sell for about a thousand on criagslist stock and then ill just uopgrade ram for like 40 bucks...
thats pretty sick...but i am thinking that it would be sick if my comp was portable because I go to whistler a lot and then id be able to edit my days footy up there....
