I used to hurt my thumbs over and over and over again every day I went skiing.
I would drive up to the mountain, take two warm up runs, practice my 360s and on the fouth or fifth one I would fall, land on my thumb and it would kill for the rest of the day and I would have to take it easy. i had no fun, and I couldn't progress.
So I went to my local medical store, bought these cheap thumb splints, put them under my gloves and I have yet to have a thumb problem skiing. Since then I have been able to push harder, have more fun and do more tricks.
You should really talk to an orthopedic surgeon. But I know they make gloves that have wrist guards built in. I would highly suggest you order a pair and see how it works. I know getboards has them. Lemme get you the link:

best of luck
yea, i have the same problem.... When i broke my leg and got my cast off... like once a week i would pull a muscle and it would hurt the whole day, come to think of it, it still does it.... It's been six months and it WON'T GO AWAY!! it better not affect my skiing
whenever i would land back or just fall on a jump i would screw up my thumb and it would really suck
