I was coming in fast to hit the nole. I began the butter, then at 180 popped of the tips into a 360 that ended up being a 540 in all. STOMPED IT! I kept riding switch down the steep hill, I saw the jump in sight. The loud screams of the gapers just pumped me up even more to make the trick totally epic. As I got closer to the jump I began to carve into it. As I popped off the lip I dropped my left shoulder to send me into an intense cork spin. I crossed both skis and grabbed the back of the right ski with my right hand. As I came to the 540 I saw the ground a bit below me, only one more spin to go… As if finished the last spin and began to come out of the invert I noticed something was wrong. I tried to adjust my self but it was to late. My face slammed into the ground and… I jerked up from my bed and noticed that it was only a dream. I looked at my clock, it was 8:00… I attempted to roll my self out of the bed, then I looked at my phone to check for any of those stupid forwarded messages. I had a text from my friend Keith, it just said, “Dude I’m so stoked for today! I’ll be by your house to pick you up around 9:00?” I blinked my eyes a few times to un-blur my vision. I proceeded to reply to him, I texted him that that would be cool and reminded him to bring some money for the lodge.
I hobbled down the stairs and grabbed out the usual breakfast, a cherry poptart and some other crap. I dropped the poptart into the toaster and began to wait. “So tired,” I thought to myself. I walked into my living room and hurled myself onto the couch and closed my eyes. POP! I woke back up from the finishing of my breakfast pastry. It was perfectly toasted, and I ate it. After I threw it into the garbage I walked upstairs and took off my old clothes from sleeping and began to put on my new ski gear. First the UnderArmor, then some sweat pants, a sick t-shirt… Almost forgot the socks, I looked into my drawer but there were no ski socks. Ugh, I looked through all of my drawers then finally found them in this drawer that I never use. After putting on my socks I began putting on all of my gear except for my new Salomon Kaos Boots. It felt so good putting back on all of my saggy gear and I knew that today was going to be a good one. I sat on my porch with all of my gear on, my backpack beside me, and my skis leaning on the house. I glanced at my phone, it read 10:05, WHERE IS HE? He finally pulled up and hopped out of the truck. I walked up to him and gave him a good high five/fist pound sort of thing. I threw my gear into the trunk, and hopped into the backseat with my boots. Here came the worst part of the day, waiting in the car for the drive up to the mountain. When I knew we were about 10 minutes from the top I began to put on my boots. The boots felt so good compared to crappy one I had last year.
Finally we turned the last curvy wind and saw the glazed white parking lot with the lodge in the distant. “Yes!” I said out loud. After we parked we grabbed all of the gear and walked into the lodge to find the lockers. When we got there we brought out the quarters and got a big locker to hold all of the unnecessary equipment. After we put all of the unwanted equipment in I began to put on my baller bandanna, then my goggles, then my graphitized helmet. I zipped up the coat and steezily walked out the lodge to bring my eyes to the mountain lighten up by the beautiful sunlight.
I grabbed my skis that I had earlier put onto a rack. I threw them down onto the snow and popped my boots into them. What a wonderful feel… It’s been 6 months that I have had to wait, except for the occasional trip to Mt. Hood. I could feel that this season would be a good one. I hopped onto the chair lift with my friend and looked down and saw fellow freeskiers jibbing some small features. Then I hopped back off the chair lift, to what seemed like 30 minutes. I took my first turn and the ski season began.
