Big L deserves way more attention and respect then he currently has. Other dead rappers like Biggie and 2pac get all the attention, but Big L is no less talented than either, and arguably has better delivery and depending on your taste, better style then both. Its a shame he died so young. With producing what he already did by that age, i have no doubt that if he was still living today, he would be the greatest rapper of all time. To those who sadly have not gotten into Big L yet, purchase the album "The Big Picture" and i have no doubt that you will be anything less than amazed. Purchase Flamboyant, Put It On, Size em up, or platinum plus with Big Daddy Kane and you will instantly recognize why he IS Harlem's finest.
L kills it for sure, i just think some of his beats are weak...IMO thats why he isnt recognized as one of the top MCs of all time. but he is way sick and one of the best of all time. if youve never heard of him...look at freestyle 98, let em have it, and put it on, and da graveyard, then see some more of his shit....
Yea some of his beats are weak, but many in the big picture are soo dirty. DJ Premier made some fat beats for The Big Picture, for some of L's raw verses that weren't finished yet. A Big L + DJ Premier combo in modern days if L didnt get murked would be the most amazing shit. God dam im pissed at whoever took his ass out.
" I never walk the streets without the vest and tha chrome, cuz all my jewels be Rocky like Sylvester Stalone"
Big L known best by the poeple of NYC and still highly revered. I met his music over the summer and solemnly listen to with keen ears and hopes of finding out what really troubled this outstanding artist
Yeah Big L is ridiculously sick, Lifesytles ov da poor an dangerous is really good but like people have mentioned the beats arnt amazing. Listen to D.I.T.C (self titled album), Im not entirely sure but was released as a tribute to Big L, the album is sick but Ls verses just stand out way more than anyone else hes on another level imo.
big L was the finest MC in new york's, and arguably all of rap's
history. he kicked the nastiest freestyles of any mc ever. in his
relatively short career he put out two of the illest albums of all
time, that are absolute must-haves for any rap head. the biggest shame
is that he was so underrated and gets nowhere near enough respect
true hip hop dudes know big L slayed the mic harder than anyone else then, today, or tomorrow...
D.I.T.C. was a collective of artists that BIG L was in. The group consisted of the emcees: Lord Finesse, A.G., Fat Joe, Big L, Diamond D, and O.C. Showbiz and Buckwild produced. Their name is an acronym for Diggin' In The Crates, thus the dusty production sound from a lot of these guys. That type of production is by far the purest and represents the essence of the art. Check out releases from any of these guys and you won't be disappointed.
