Ski Poles suck

I tend to go through about 3 pair of poles a year, always breaking them. How many pair do you break? Do you guys have any recommedations? Are there any poles that have a warranty?

CARBON, or fiberglass if you're super ghetto cheap. They'll bend a shitload before they break, but when they do break, watch the fuck out for the shrapnel.

Roussel- I hope you are being sarcastic.

As for breaking poles- just get a pair of rental poles- they are practically indestructable, as well as cheap (if not free) I've had a pair of Crested Butte rental poles for 4 seasons now.

yeah I landed on my pole last yar leaving it bent in the shape of my ass. I just bent it back and continued to use it. But stealing poles from the mountain ski rental place has said to be redicously easy here.

well i dont really recommend skiing, but if you look around, theres usually a shitload of poles out by the dumpster at big resorts. Usually you can find a decent pair in there, or find a pair that you could fix up and just need new tips/baskets or something like that. I got graphite poles from there, and then bought tip/baskets for 6 bucks....Graphites for 6 dollars, not too shabby.

mine never break just bend. The got lots of bends in them now and they are missing half the paint. It's style that way. If the break....which they shouldn't....duct tape baby...ohh yeah

Goode makes some real good composite poles. They don't break...and learning how to ski would probably help too. if you're constantly falling on your poles and breaking them...that's not something I would post on the internet...you could have just asked where to get some poles that don't break. you're shooting yourself in the foot

when you bend the pole back do it by hitting it against something like a tree, chairlift, or friend. Don't just bend it back cause then it'll kink and break.

I've got a shitty pair of Scott poles (20 bucks) that are scratched and beat to hell. I've gotten two years out of them and hope for at least two more. 5 bucks a year isn't bad for how much use they get. Keep your busted poles as trophies, but make sure there is a good story behind them. Go big or go home

Yeah, not sucking helps. just got some goode carbons--25 bucks--haven't used them yet, they seem flexable as hell. Do the extra vibrations on pole plants annoy anyone? I used to break poles all the time, but it was allways stupid shit like closelineing friends in the woods.

I break poles by stepping on them when landing, or by eating shit and landing on them. I am surprised more of you dont break your poles.


As to not sucking... you have to try new shit to get better. And when you try to push your limits, you are going to eat shit eventually.

I've broken three pairs of aluminum poles. Now my carbon fiber, fiberglass, composite, or whatever they're made out of Kerma poles have lasted three years now. I still have 2 pairs of aluminum poles for backups though.
