i completely agree with you on your whole post.
brand new is one of my favorite bands. the last album and the one before that are super good.
you have a great taste in music, bro
website: www.therebelspell.com listen to the songs off "four songs about freedom"
as for other bands:
Propagandhi, other G7 bands such as I Spy. Oldy but a goody.
A Wilhelm Scream
Smoke or Fire
Strung Out, other Fat bands.
Plenty of others...
As for the old bands, Ihave respect for them I suppose but I find them very boring. Not fast enough.
yeah i know they are mainstream, never said they weren't. but they're real punk bands. nowadays when people think punk they think of pop-punk because good punk right now is hard to find.
and to talk about politics: yeah, i'm a conservative. do you know how far left the ENTIRE music industry has gone? nowadays almost every band has some song with something negative about a)our president, b) the war, or c) the republican way of thinking in general, unless its like jesus music. if i go by the political views and messages of the bands and their music, i would have a very small and selective playlist.
no, i don't agree with a lot of the messages in punk music, but it's fucking awesome. it's too good not to listen to just because i may not poltically agree with it.
i really don't feel like arguing with you in yet another thread.
but basically from your point of view, republicans have no place in media at all. especially not in television or music.
a republican liking the beatles or dylan is hypocritical too, right? cause we can't recognize musical genious just because their political messages mask it.
i like music. musicians like the democratic party. shit sucks, but doesn't mean i'm going to stop listening to it.
I fuckin’ love that one rock video where that fucking jack-ass mohawked millionaire prances around by far the worst sausage party on earth, where by mere chance he’s caught on film shaking hands with an incredibly diverse collection of patriotic skins. I like the message it sends: With a Rebel™ yell, Just Do Exactly What You’re Told. One million douche bags can’t be wrong? “When did punk rock become so safe?” You’ll excuse me if I laugh in your face as I itemize your receipts and PowerPoint your balance sheets. I hear this year’s Vans Warped Tour is “going green!” I guess they heard that money grows on trees. Hope they ship all those shitty bands overseas like they did the factories. Music’s power to describe, compel, renew … It’s all a distant second to the offers you can’t refuse. Anyone remember when we used to believe that music was a sacred place and not some fucking bank machine? Not something you just bought and sold? How could we have been so naïve? Well, I think when all is said and done, just cuz we were young doesn’t mean we were wrong. And I’ll rock back and forth on this two-bit hobbyhorse ’til she splinters and gives way. I’ll tend the flowers by her grave. And whisper her name. If anyone out there understands can I please see a show of hands just so I know I’m not insane? Ever get the feeling you been played? Well, that’s rock for sustainable capitalism and you know, we may face a scorched and lifeless earth, but they’re accountable to their shareholders first. That’s how the world works.
