Lens Help

Ok so I just got a canon rebel xt and it came with a 18-55 lens but I am looking to get a zoom lens.. can anyone tell me if this lens will fit?

and how can you tell what lens will fit what body?

i would go with the 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO from Sigma, its the closest your going to get to an L lens without paying an absurd amount of money, it my main lens and it does macro photography ( have a look at my photos, it means really close up photography) as well which is a huge bonus costing only 300. hmmm, I bolted the sigma 70-300mm to my 40D and it crashed it, badly. I would go with the cheap 75-300mm by Canon, it's better than everyone says... I got mine for $200 (£100) it's pretty outstanding for the price.

(and Pippin; how are you using a 70-300mm as a main lens unless you hate landscapes ! I use a 17-85mm)

18 55 is a zoom. and you can tell if a lens fits it if it's ether a ef or ef-s mount
