how much do companies teams influence what you buy? when it comes to skiing and clothing?
say Candide on this new company?
or Jon on Cross? or Jp on armada.? Will you guys buy a companies products becasue they sponsor certain people?

not really, but if i see a pro on a new company like coreUPT, i will definetly go to their site and check out their gear, which is essentially the idea of marketing

i won't buy something cuz taht certain pro is rocking it, ill just buy it cuz it looks dope as shit, referring to clothing, but skis i usually base on tech. aspect of the ski, as in how durable it is, how it skis, dimensions, all that jazz

Not very much unless its a new kind of ski like the anthem, but honestly asked normal kids who had them how they liked them. They dont effect me much.

no pros ride the anthem so that pretty much backs up your reasoning right there

If I see a pro on something new I will look into it and if I like it I will buy it
One thing I can't stand about this site is when a young tyke asks for example what jacket tanner hall is rocking in the most massive update. Then that is followed by an orgy of hate and people saying "why don't you get your own style and stop copying t-hall" Generally kids just want to know what it is because they like how it looks not because a certain pro has it, they just find out about it by seeing pros, therefore sponsorship is doing its job

I agree with StayFresh, the marketing aspect is critical. I never even considered Atomic's twin tips, but after jossi started destroying it I looked on their site and read around and found they make a solid product.

I feel like a noob if i say that they have a ton of say in whether or not I buy a product based on it's featured athlete, but I would be a liar if i said it didn't have any impact... If TJ was wearing a pair of dope skullcandy's i wouldn't buy them because he was wearing them, but it would probably help persuade me...

it influences me to a degree. pros will always use the better stuff so when i see a pro using a certain ski or binding i know it will be a quality product.

It is pretty funny to see how much a lot of people on here are on some pros' nuts.

it doznt necessarily ifluence me anymore, it does make me appreciate that ski or whatever. i can imagine that it would influence younger kids alot more tho coz pro skiers r like there idols rather than just dope skiers u respect?

i feel like they are more like billboards then salesman. things don't sell because tanner wears them, they sell because you see them when tanners on TV, in a mag, or a movie.

well for something like skiing i dont let pros influence what i wear. i find things that are good quality and warm and that are steezy and sometimes is happens that its what the pros have but not usually cause im a girl and i dont wear guy boots of anything

I won't lie, It does effect me a little. But it is more you see what they are doing and if that is sick then I notice what skis they were using. Like a few years ago when Andy slayed the shit out of minigolf lines with his rockered skis. That made me start to think more about Rockered skis. As far as skis go I would say it definatly has an effect on me.
Clothing is completely diferent:
It goes in order
Water proofing (20,000mm or higher prefered)
Ventelation (more=better)
Durability (not Oakley)
Weather I think it looks good or not
Insulation
Price (cheaper the better)
Is everyone else going to wear it next year. (hopefully not)
Boots are:
Fit
Flex (Stiff > soft)
Bindings are:
Will it hold me in
Will it break
No Vertical Relese.
Price

I've never had a pro tell me which product to buy. I make that decision, or so I would like to think.

I have never liked any product because a pro used it or likes it. I choose a product because it fits and works comfortably for me.

if there is a ski i think i really like and might want to get but i dont know if its legit, if a darned good pro is using it its hard not to think its a good ski

I just buy whats on sale for clothes and try to get the best gear for the lowest price when I do buy new stuff. I don't ever even notice what the pros are wearing or what they are riding on. Does it really even matter what skis they have on?

yeah i don't think it has any influence on what i buy, although i do get a little stoked when i see segments with pros using the same jacket or skis i have.

the pros dont really have that much influence on what i BUY but they do influence the companies i look into and visit websites and stuff things like that. it may or may not lead to me buying their stuff but it atleast gets people talking and lookin at the products

Pros bring out whats cool and stuff. I dont wanna buy shit just cause its a certain pros. I want it cause its good or cool. Like I just found this sick gangsta steez shit, and I know thats what everyone is wearing now, but everyone is wearing it because its cool.

LOL, why is everyone kidding themselves? You know that seeing a pro using a specific piece of equipment makes it seem more appealing...

I bought lizzies so i could ski like pollard. and to be completely honest, it kinda worked. not saying I'm good like he is, but they change the way you ski.

Id say it definitely has an influence on me as far as skis go. I see the pros ripping it up on a certain pair of skis and I want to look into them. That being said, the final decision comes purely down to ski performance~

it's not like the new jordan's, for example, where everyone has to have the product because a superstar does.
seeing pro's who have a similar skiing style as i do (or at least one i would like to emulate in some sense) can point me to look further into a new company or new model of skis.
that being said, talking to someone on here or tgr about a pair of skis carries so much more weight than what i see at the xgames or in the movies.

none whatsoever, i buy what i wnat and what i like and based off the reviews i see, i personally dont like wearing stuff the pros use because i feel like im trying to look like them or somehing.

i actually did a research project on this in college for my sports psych class. my research showed that peers have the highest influence on all aspects of athletics form equipment to practicing and effort. coaches came in next. elite athletes had the lest effect on all aspects. this was based mostly on team sports and not individual. but it was backed up with peer reviewed journal articles and research. so according to my research, not alot.
personally, not really. i buy what i like and what fits...im small so i am limited the skis i can buy....

I want to say none at all.. but if i see what can/can not be done a certain skis (and if it happens to be a pro riding them) then it will effect my decision.... But absolutly no effect on clothes..
