Yo, i have just recently gone vegeterian, and im wonderin how to substitute meat for all the minerals and stuff we need, like whats good for iron and so on/ how do you stay healthy?

It's damn hard...I know vegetarians, all they do is talk about new better ways of getting enough protein. Personally, I just eat a steak.

i've been a vegetarian all my life...i was raised that way.
it's totally healthy, I get all the nutrients I need.

You obviously subsstitue meat with other things, and those things have the nutrients.

since , for example, Idon't eat chicked, which might have protein or hwatever, i eat more...beans or something...which has protein.

i don't know the techinicalities, but I know people wouldn't do it if it was unhealthy, and I know doctors are RIGHT when they say it's healthy....and you all sound ignorant.

i'm not understandin the whole vegetarian thing..oh shit..an animal died so someone could eat it..that's how it works..it's called the food chain..

I dont care what people eat more MEAT for me. anyway goto a discount suppliment store and buy a big tub of protein shakes they are really good for you espcially if you dont have any meat intake tons of vitamins and amino acids aswell. or man up and eat a steak.

that was a really long post man. since you played the religion card I'm going to also. GOD INTENDED FOR US TO EAT MEAT! It's in Acts, I read it just the other day. If you don't like meat then enjoy your tofu while I make me a steak with southwest spices rubbed into the meat to give it a spicy quality. Then top it off with Jim Bean Steak Sauce. If you don't like religion, you'll get over it.

I know plenty of vegetarians that are prefectly healthy, if your serious about going veg, eat lots of nuts, almonds especially are full of protein and carbs that can supplement for the meat your missing.

Its obnoxious to say that people who dont eat meat arent' real 'men' just because they are against mass slaughtering and careless meat handelling dosent make them any less of men. And you say its natural to eat meat? sure it is, but is it natural to pump chickens and cows full of so many chemicals? if you want it to be natural, go kill your own animals, and eat everything you kill...

I agree with alpentalik. plants are living things too and its just as wrong to eat them as it is to eat meat. the only alternative is to raise animals for their shit, not only to use as food, but fuel also. I predict the world will enter a new era that I call 'The Age of Shit' where shit will heat, power and feed us and it will all be morally and environmentally sound. because vegetarianism is so evil and cruel. shiteaters are soo much better than vegetarians.

For those saying we were 'designed to eat meat', I'd really like to know what your sources are.

Try giving meat to a baby, he'll reject it. It's an acquired taste that has to be developed.
And if you want to look at the physiological effects on the body.. It has a difficult time processing meat.

Allright. If you want to eat meat that's fine. I eat meat now and then, but if you really knew the mechanics behind meat processing, the meat factories, and the diseases, I'm sure you'd think twice about it.

I find it interesting how over 80% of people who have worked in meat factories become vegetarians.

Think about it, if we lived in a small tribe out in the jungle that strictly ate vegetables, nuts, and fruit and we were raised around that our whole lives.. would we then go run out into the jungle hunt and kill some animal and eat it?

completely untrue. Meat has it's proteins (and it has chemicals that work against the body).

Do you realize you can get the same amount of protein if you eat a few almonds, or have a few spoons of rice?
