I need new pow skis and I am looking at both. I'm 6'2" 140 and ski maybe 15-20 days a year of pow. These will be just for pow but also goin downs some groomers and maybe a few jumps. price is no problem so I just need some advice. also what bindings?
im your height and a little heavier, and eps were the shiz when i rode them. if they are going to be soley for pow, you will not regret getting them. soooo much fun, and yes, they can take groomers fine. if you want something stiffer, get 'bents. bacons would be good if they were going to be your only ski, because they are wayyyyy more versatile, but it sounds like you want a pow-only ski. For bindings, id say some jesters. THEY WERE MADE FOR THESE SKIS basically, or some mojo 15s, super solid and underrated binding for a sick price, if not go with some px's. id say stay away from marker (besides jesters) and salomon. hope some of this helps...
thanks o and one other question. I know EPs are soft but like noodles or what? I have this years AR6s and those are kinda soft. How would the perform at speed. and how well can they hold a butter?
^^duh dude ep means eric pollard, of course thats what hes referring to.
and to the thread creator, eps are ridiculously soft, like, bend into a U type soft. you can just lean back and they will slide right out from under you. now, for me, thats what i want in a pow ski, it makes fresh snow like a giant playground. but like i said before, why most people prefer hellbents is because they are stiffer, a little less fun for me but still amazing...
ya I tryed a friends hellbents and i wanted something softer. I love just messing around in pow like just buttering down the hill so I will most likely love them.
Woah. EP's are way fun, they are the noodliest ski available, and are great in pow. I would recommend hellbents though. They're very flexy still, but are a little better all mtn. However if you have another pair of skis, EP's are always fun in pow. Buttering in pow is epic.
i was talking to a guy in a whistler shop who said the first pair of ep's he sold were returned because they were actually flexing underfoot, so the binding got loose and was with little effort, riveted out, the ep's are CRAZY soft.
