thank you for posting the superunknown vid....i used to have it pretty much memorized, but had since forgotten it somewhat

even given the lack of urban, i still may take this kids over tom's superunknown.  if gus had urban, it would be a definite.  but i'm fairly confidant the kid can slide hand rails.  i just like how he flows....just goes right into the next feature and just throws something nasty off of it and rides away smooth.  and his pretzel was fucking insane.

I'm stoked that you are stoked on improving and such, and doing stuff that we think is cool, listening to suggestions and such.

so here's what I think"

Do some straight slides! See how sick you can make them. Do some bs 270s out, do some switch on switch out. Go back to the basics and see how sick you can make it FEEL and how sick you can make it look. Work on bringing some personal flavour, some style, to your tricks. When you are so busy working on the 270 on 360sw up 450 out, it's hard to bring something to it, to make it look sick or feel sick or anything, it just ends up being like aerials. So go back to basics! Look at mickael. He does a straight slide and it is so mind blowingly sick. Cause he does it with style, cause he brings something to it. He feels it, he flows it out. Recognize that doing a spin is not necessarily sicker than doing a straight slide, it is all about how you do it.

Also, I think on rails you could work on presses. Do tail and nose presses, crook presses, spins in and out of these presses, pretzel and danish. And also nollies on, switch on from the side, both tails or nose over first. uuuuuuh one footers... uuuh

anything that hasn't been done 1000000 times... and bring your own FLAVOUR to it.

Also, lose the mutes, they are UGZ.

I am pretty good at presses, so next time I go out, I will work on that stuff.  I don't know what a dianish or a crook press are though.  This was just ONE day, so don't think this is all I can do.  I will try and clean up the mutes, but know they are right side, so they aren't going to be perfect.

danish is the opposite of pretzel, like a bs 270 out would be a danish. or a 270 on front 270 out would be danish. whereas pretzel is breaking the rotation, danish is continuing it.

Crooks presses would just be presses that are like crooked. Like on a skateboard, a feeble or a crook grind, or smith or whatevs. so you would be like 45 degree angle to the rail. They are also known as trippy H's.

But yeah, work on nollies too, and switch from the side. And make sure to work on the basics more! Like I want to see some straight slides! And just simple steezy tricks!

And like about the mutes, its not that they are sketchy or anything, its just that they are super crossed and tweaked and like typical and just are unflowy and unpleasant to the eyes.

Try to do more mellow stuff.

After watching your videos you have no room to what so ever to talk shit. His style on small jumps is way better than anything you do. If you called that kid out in person he would probably laugh in your face.

I could call your tricks robotic too, but you would have to be a pretty faggy, shitty at skiing robot. This kid is way better than you will ever be, so just shut the fuck up.

The one thing that skiing (and snowboarding, for that matter) lack is personal flavor. Gus could be very sick skier, but to me this would only happen when he's able to do basic shit that feels flowy and sick. Something natural, a trick whose style isn't defined by the strength of its tweak or the arch of its back. I want to see a simple that looks so raw and original that it can seem like something worth remembering, a style so comfortable and flowy that I can almost feel his personality in it.

So to Gus, take this man's word and apply it to your skiing. Don't try to emulate anyhting or be anything but what you feel is right. Do the most simple stuff and make it look like something I've never seen before in skiing.

don't listen to any of this shit on this thread. you have a ton of talent, do what you want with it. As far as comparing him to tom wallisch, when this kid is 18 years old and if he has the oppurtunity to film at park city and the surrounding slc area I think his superunknown will be better, but its nearly impossible to compare because of the age and location and differences in oppurtunity. wallisch is probably better now, but wow give this kid some time and the same oppurtunities that wallisch has been presented with i.e. filming with berman and attending JOI and skiing with big name pros this kid could be just as good if not better. You could actually say this about alot of kids on this site, but pussyfooter was just pissing me off with all his deepthroating of wallisch's dilznik

I am so tired of people like you who hate on tricks either consciously or subconsciously because they can't do them. So they just do basic tricks and work on their "style". Even though the people doing more difficult stuff have more style than them already and on more difficult tricks. Maybe you should go hang out with Travis Heed and start some sort of cult.

You're right, but that's not what is going on in this thread.  The person I quoted specifically said that Mikee and himself are more stylish than "anyone posted in this thread", which is Tom and Gus.  I think Tom and Gus are both really stylish, so I'm a bit skeptical of their claim.

Reading what Mikee posts does not convince me that he is more stylish than Gus and Tom.  A video might, though.

Also, criticizing Gus' skiing is cool.  But, given that Mikee has hated on every video on here since the superunknowns were announced ("this is repetitive robot shit" is not criticism, that's just hating) and claimed that he is a better skier, I think he should either post something or stop filling all these threads with his crap.  Or better yet, he should stop filling these threads with his crap even if he is indeed better.
