Love and Skiing Contest Winner Announced!

First off, thanks to everyone that participated. It wasn't easy picking a winner. Everyone touched on so many great aspects of skiing and, in an encouraging coach kind of way, we're all winners. From the feelings in your gut, to the smell of cafeteria food, to some pretty ridiculous claims, they made me laugh, get a little nostalgic, and most of all made me proud to be apart of such a great community. So without further ado, the winning submission came from: WayBackMachine.

Bottom line, the thing I love about skiing is the way it allows you to detach from all the things in your life that might be stressing you out or causing any sort of anxiety. From the first second you step into your bindings on a good day, it seems like all of your troubles couldn't be further away. I've never been very good at buddhist meditation, but I think skiing is a perfectly decentsubstitute. It helps me clear my mind and find peace.

Oh yeah, and skiing trees on a powder day is an indescribable rush. Your non-skier friends will never understand this sort of feeling. That's the other reason I love skiing. When I have a particularly satisfying day of shredding, it gets me higher than any drug ever could, and I feel incredibly euphoric. It's as close as I could imagine coming to proving the existence of a benevolent, fun-loving god.

that really is so true.


if you remember some threads back about me (most of you wont) you know that just getting up the mountain for me is incredibaly hard and the months of december and most of january have been quite horrible for me, i was quite on the brink again. i pretty much lost my mind in that stuff, and although im not out of it my buddy has dragged me up skiing almost everyday, and it has lit a fire under my ass and probably saved my life. the three to four hours i spend up there fill me with enough happiness and good times that im able to forget about the shitty things and although i still have to struggle day to day i understand that i have at least that little bit of time to be a normal person and feel happiness which for people like me, well thats pretty un-heard of.
