For homecoming? I used to suck at dancing, still probably do, but I learned you just gotta kick your ego out the window and dance. Once I did that, I learned to love dancing. Just bustin' you're groove thang...

it's all about following the rythym and letting your body go, cranks some beats try a few steps and maybe dance in front of a mirror in your house? That helped me when I was starting out...do something that looks cool!

try some of the hybrid newschool dances like the 'lawn care' (sprinkler, with a drop down to lawnmower and pop back up in to sprinkler...maybe mix in the 'fan' sprinkler)
