Digital Video Camera Question

I know nothing about digital video cams, but I wanna buy one this year. What is a good size memory stick to buy with one, and how much video do you actually get on those memory sticks?

the sticks are for pictures you use a digital tape thing and a couple of them are DVD cams but those are just expensive.

a wire that connect from the camera to to your computor called a Fire Wire. they cost extra most of the time.

Firewire cables are fuckin expensive and the cards are fairly high priced too, you get the same speed transfer from a USB 2.0 one but then you gotta find a camera that supports USB 2.0. USB 2.0 is cheaper for the cable. Like, my Firewire card was $40 and the Cable was $40, my USB 2.0 Card was $40 and the cable was free, I saved $40 even though I didn't buy the Firewire.

Firewire doesn't have to be expensive at all. I read up on it a lot - quality is just the same from a $10 card as a $100 card. So I got mine for £15 UK including a cable and it's great.
