my sister has recently became a vegan. and i literlly (nor does she) no anything about it besides the fact that she doesnt eat meat because you know, she is an animal lover. what i am asking is that if any of you are vegan, what are some good things to eat and are there any good books to read about diets?

there is a lot more than just not eating meat involved with being vegan....you cant eat dairy at all either..you cant eat anything with animal products in it. you really have to research and find out what to eat to replace the proteins and stuff from meat...or its not healthy at all.

being a vegan is harmfull to the envorment think about this.... mother nature controls the population of a animal by using preditors to keep their numbers down now with cows we have such a huge population of them if we all just stoped eating them they would die a slow painful death due to over population (lack of food, etc.) and the meat is a waste... its natural for a animal to eat meat and people who say its not are very uneducated

Why do people have to fucking classify themselves? Are you allowed to do this if youre vegan? no...are you allowed to do this? no..... who the fuck cares? do what you want! you dont need classifications. Although once on an airplane the guy sitting next to me ordered a vegan meal but got a vegetarian meal and the attendant didnt understand that there was a difference. It was odd

being a vegan is actually not harmful...its more helpful to the earth. by eating lower on the food chain (not eating animals)it saves resources. by eating animals that means that we need more animals on the earth to feed everyone and that equals a strain on the earths carrying carpacity. being vegan is also a lot more healthy for you. (provided you have a proper vegan diet)

Can't wear leather, must have armpit hair, etc. etc. the criteria is unbelievable. To each their own.... i'm a vegetarian, and it's a piece of cake nowadays.... but being a vegan is a constant challenge I would think....

but honestly as respectable as her choice is sounds like she is kinda jumping into it pretty quick. Vegan is the extreme version of vegetarianism and she is going to have to do alot of research to actually be able to keep a healthy diet.

Nothing containing ANY animal product, this includes many breads, milk, anything else dairy related (ie cheese, yogurt, butter), nothing containing gelatin which is a lot of candy, jello etc also chocolate, nothing containing leather, nothing containg whey I think it is, and also NO refined sugar because they do something to the sugar with animal bones I guess, which means no candy except vegan ones that you can get at the coop and stuff, a lot of sodas, donuts etc.

that was really dumb. being a vegitarian (as long as you consume enough protien) can be very healthy and easy. being a vegan is not easy. you can eat very, very few things and have to eat lots of soy, which really isnt too bad but no refined sugar, no meat, nothing made with eggs, nothing made with dairy (which is many more things than you realize) and there are a couple more rules. veganism is more a thing to be able say you can do than something actually useful

my dad was considering being an extreme 'raw' vegan, who only eat raw vegetables and fruits pretty much. Also, being vegan usually goes hand in hand with being completely chemical freee, meaning no medicine at all, no drugs, no booz etc. My freind Corrin went to Africa for a year and she would only eat fruit that had naturally fallen from the trees

I don't know if anyone already said this but being a vegan is really unhealthy. Its hard to get the right nutrients. My sister was a vegan at the end of highschool and got reall skinny and unhealthy. You can't even eat honey for gods sake. Or milk.

Im sure they'd tell you if they were vegan before hand. But anywho, I had a friend who was vegan, and she was sick pretty much every week. Her immune system had been shot to shit. Although, she did make some mad good food. Tofu sandwiches are super good, and so are vegan donuts. mmmmm.....

Yah people who don't like to eat meat cuz the fuzzy wuzzy animals that it comes out of are fucked up. There is so much more serious shit to worry about in life besides not trying to kill a chicken or a cow. You can't make a difference by being vegetarian or whatever, and I really don't see any benifits to such a diet. So pointless and a waste of energy IMHO.
