DV Camera Temp. Range

I was looking into getting a Canon Optura 20 but i saw that the Operating Temperature range is 32 -100 but yeah.... is that really accually true with cameras cause that wouldn't be too good if i was tryin to film on the mountain and the camera stopped working

umm yeah i dont know about that one but mine still works when its been well under 30

ya i was at whiteface ny once and it was so cold it shut off, but it worked again in five or so minutes u really dont have to worry about that

small size 'handycams' don't work well in low temperatures. a while ago i used a sony dcr-pc7e. in low temperatures it began make some scratches and such on the tape and all the filmed material was garbage.

now i use a bigger panasonic ag-ez30e which is awesome on low temperatures. works damn fine!

get a portobrace bag...my XL1S handles about 15 degrees, after that panning the camera creates a blur because the ccd becomes cold enough where it cant keep up with the motion

biggest thing is keeping the battery warm, below freezing, u get on average 25% use on a full battery, meaning a 2 hr battery in the cold lasts like 30 minutes max

the only thing i've had problems with (my friend's cam, i don't have one) is that the LCD gets too cold, and the liquid doesn't darken, which basically means that, for me, the LCD don't work under about 25 degrees
