FKS...why?

what is the HUGE deal with fks or pivot race bindings? i cant find anything fundamentally different between them and regular pivots other than no upward release and different arms on the heelpieces.  what is so great about them that is letting them sell for upwards of 200 dollars? several pros ride them so everybody NEEDS a pair or what?

please explain

theyre race bindings. some people need that clamping power cause they shred super hard. and, in theory, they are great.

DON"T pre release, real light weight compared to the new ones, full metal heal piece making them bomb proof, and basically no lift on them. They're well worth it.

I got mine because all my pivots are wearing out and there's no slop in a race heel.  But I'm also putting them on the two pairs of skis I don't want coming off my feet....ever.  The only reason I can see to justify them on park is if you go huge and break a lot of shit, otherwise they really do nothing except look cool.

not light, they're made of metal so they are heavier, but extremely bombproof so it's worth it. only weakness for park is their skinny brakes since they are made for racing.

metal so they dont break. 360 degree pivot heel holds you in the longest until you really actually need to eject. small hole pattern allows you to flex the ski correctly with no dead spots. only con is the brakes but theyre not even that bad

i was going to say that but the hole pattern gives such a good feel to the ski. its mostly a con on fat skis, but you can epoxy them in if its an issue, or helicoil

i like them for park because its not too heavy and super durable. i only have used them for one year but they are pretty sickk.

Eh, the big plus of FKS is their heel elasticity. There are lighter bindings out there and some just as strong.

It is a all metal binding that has a larger spring along with a few other things...I have bown up countless rossi/look piviot lower end bindings but never a FKS...
