the way i learned the season before last is just by following someone good about 10 feet behind them and matching their speed. its an easy way to know that your hitting it the right speed and getting a good feel for it by the end of the season youll be great at judging speed and distance but dont forget try to grab the front of your skis the first few times u jump because going in the backseat is easy

its easier than it looks, keep your legs shoulder length apart and kinda bent and just get a good amount of speed for the jump, just as your feet go off the lip, pop(like a hop) off it, if you case it get more speed next time, if you overshoot it get less. for spinning you need slightly more speed than a straight air

I amnot the authority or anything, but here is my tip: In order to do something your mind is telling you not to, fake yourself out. After figuring out the speed, tell yourself you will turn away, but keep going straight at it. Also, dont hop, it more of a boost from your legs, its alot cleaner and you have more control.
I used to skiboard.

I was like you two years ago. I kept getting thrown off balance by the lips. My advice would be to work your way up. Start with ten footers, then got to twenty, thirty, fourty, etc. Also make sure to keep your weight foreward. I don't know if you land in the backseat, but if you do, put your arms infront of you when you take off. Other than that just go out there and take hits for a day and you will be money.

anyway 180 everything as u go to a bigger lvl that will make u feel super confident.

i totally agree with hagar on this one, just check your speed once first, then head for the jump a second time, and once you do it, youll find it wasnt that bad, and most likely want to do it again, basically if you set your mind on doing it, its hard when your standing atop the approach, but once you turn your skis towards the jump and know your going to do it, your mind just clears, and all you really remember is what to do and how to do it, its one of the best feelings ever, i strongly suggest bustin that hit real soon

purchase a large pair of balls from your local hardware store and go for it.
but for real.. just watch a couple people take the jump..watch the speed..ask for the speed..try and size yourself up with someone around your height and weight and watch how fast they go. you can also follow em and then veer off at the end just to take a manual speed check. then all u gotta do is just huck it and stomp that shit...n then u can be like 'bietchhhh!'.

1. Watch someone hit the jump who lands it perfectly. Then tail them and watch them ski.. see or ask if there skiis are slicker then them.
Using this method.. you should beable to determine if you need to do a speed check when u drop in (eg do a turn to slow down a bit) or just bomb it. hitting the jump choo choo train style behind a pro whos going the perfect speed always helps also.

Its almost always better to overshoot it a bit, then chicken out and undershoot and hit the knuckle. Hitting the knuckle= knee damage

charge into the jump with more speed than u think ull need, make sure u see someone else hit it first, but then just hit it and if u over shoot, dont go so fast

yeh at my mountain everybody sucks and no one hits the big jumps except me and my friend. so we get to speed test the hits. it's sometimes an adventure of pain.
