amazon.com? thats like buying something from a store. if you'd buy something online from a prominent company, why not from amazon. unless you're talking about buying it from users on amazon. like when you hit buy new/used for [given price]. thats more like ebay. they have ratings and shit.
everything ive ordered (whether it be from amazon or from one of the private dealers on amazon) has arrived in super quick time, with no hassles. It's good stuff.
a lot of sites have like a "secure" buying program or code or something. theres like a lock somewhere near the loading section on sites. for example, i know on drjays.com "hackersafe" and a "secured by thawte" logo on the bottom i can't copy and paste into this box to show you. i looked on amazong, but didn't find something like that, but i did see that you can buy shit from like target and big company stores so it really must be secure. i wouldn't worry at all.
