2007 Patroits - Best ever?

its early still but theyre 6-0, theyve scored 34 points in all 6 games which ties a record with the '00 Rams, they blew out the cowboys today with a lackluster defense, tom brady is still getting used to his wr's and hes down to his 3rd string running back. the pats will only improve from this point. but are they the best ever in your oppinion?

not at all. something from sportscenter would be like:

chris berman (boomer)-so the patriots steamroll the cowboys today.  can they be the best team ever?

steve young: i think they can and i'll tell ya why.  this patriot team is the most prepared football team that i have ever seen.  bill belicheck is so mythotical in his playcalling.  if you take a look at the depth and completeness of this team then you'll see why.  tom brady is the only quarterback to throw 3 tds in each of the first 6 games of the season.  i think this team will run the table and win the superbowl

tom jackson:  yea uh.. uh.. i totally agree.  lets take a look at the film here.  here the patriots are running a deep route with moss against a cover 2 defense.  this is what tom brady does best:  he takes advantage and he reads defenses.  he finds the gaps in the cover 2 and delivers a perfect pass to moss.  but here is where the patriots are the best.  that last play forces the defense to double up on moss.  this allows wes welker to run a simple out.  theyre a great west coast offense that can eat the clock and put a game away early

mike ditka:yea im gonna agree with you guys.  tom brady is the only qb to every throw 5 tds in a game against dallas on a sunday where the barometric pressure is 29.87.

Seriously, fuck all of the haters.  Everyone says we're only good because we cheat.  Just about every team cheats, we were just the ones to get caught.  Until you know what goes on behind the scenes on an NFL team, don't make stupid accusations.

As far as I can see, the only reason people say that is because they are jealous of our pure awesomeness and feel threatened that THE PATRIOTS WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN.

thank you.  if the pats were 2 and 4 right now or had some shitty record no one would say anything about cheating.  The pats did it in one game and even the commisioner said they had no advantage during the game.  the QB's headphone shuts off some 7 seconds before the play there is no way that they could relay the defensive play to brady that fast.  everyone is just pissed cause the pats own and whoever they like suck dick.  it will not suprise me to see the pats at 16-0 or 15-1 in late december.

yeah but you know for sure they aren't cheating now, and they're still owning everyone's face, patriots are ill, besides in the game they got caught against the jets, the pats wouldn't have had the signals until half time, and they dominated the entire game including the first two quarters, so fuck all you haters, you can't say shit about the patriots not being talented, go sip on some more hateraid bitches

first they already are a dynasty.  they probably won't last many more years b/c of the current state of the league and the way the free agency system is set up right now, but they are there.  different point...it wasn't just one game that they cheated.  there were two complaints before, so they received a warning, then they did it again (which was kinda stupid b/c after being warned you've got to figure there's an eye on you) and the big investigation went down, headlines, etc.  there is no way you can present a logical argument that they were not at an advantage b/c of what they did, especially now that we know that is was valuable enough to them to persist is doing it after being warned.  so far, no other team has had to be punished for this type of cheating.  do i think most teams observe the signals defensive coaches use to communicate their calls?  yes.  do most teams use video and compare that to records of how the defense played those plays to know the meaning of the signals quickly and efficiently, and with enough time left in a game to advise coaches or the qb what they are, enabling them to call audibles and hot routes at the line and exploit the defenses strategy?  i would say overwhelmingly no.  the thing is, it's pretty smart, b/c tom brady might be one of the only nfl qb's that is savvy enough to do that on the fly (only a few others come to mind that could probably do it).  i play and understand football pretty well, so i can see what they could do with that.  in fact, i seem to remember thinking in a super bowl a few years back how fortunate it was that so many times when philly ran a disguised blitz, the pats always seemed to have a screen called, or a draw when they'd run outside stunts.  i'm totally speculating and there's no proof they did anything illegal in the games years ago, but i seriously do remember that thought coming into my mind during that game.

they didnt gain any advantage in that game.  if they had gotten away with it and gone to play the jets again they would have an advantage.  but since they got caught all the tapes were destroyed so they dont have shit.  They beat the jets and it had notthing to do with the filming of defensive signals.  they beat the shit out of the chargers, probably the strogest team we have played so far and we have betten everyone by at least 2 TD's so...  they didnt get any advantage because they were filming signs for latter in the year when they could do somthing with them.  IS THIS MAKING SENSE????

does it make any sense that if a team has a couple extra guys to work on it (one to film, one to compare with records) they could know what some of the signals mean, and then communicate to the qb in between series or even while he's on the field...the qb has an earpiece in his helmet to send the plays in.

^like i said before the ear piece shuts off about 7 seconds before the play. there is no way to relay the defensive play that fast no matter how many ppl you got working on it.  the patriots won because they are nasty not cause they taped the defensive coach.

i cannot debate the fact that they are downright nasty.  they look unstoppable right now.  i'm just saying that if you are crafty, it's totally possible to have a big advantage by what they did.  after every series brady talks to the offensive coodinator and qb coach and sees pics of how the defense lined up and they go over what happened, how to adjust, not to mention what they can go over during half time.  and all of that is totally well and good, and legal, but if they planned it well they could easily know the meaning of some of the opposing defensive defensive coaches signals.  it isn't out of the question that they could relay that to brady and he could note something about what the defense will do from that, and it could be things the defense think will be a suprise.  any hint about what coverage they are in when they disguise, or when a blitz or stunt package is on would be such a big advantage, that if they thought they could get away with it, it would be worth it to them to plan it out and coodinate it so it happens.
