HOLY FUCK! My dad is a fucking piece of shit.

I swear I can honestly say I HATE my dad. Amongst other shit thats going on, today he just reinforced my position that he is a piece of shit.

So today is my moms birthday, and he didnt say shit all morning. I go to the store and buy her a cake/card and give it to her and when he comes home he sees this. Does he say Happy Birthday then? Hell no he doesnt. When hes about to leave he trys to say he didnt forget but my mom says 'yes you did' and he admits it. Then he argues with her that he has alot on his mind right now and thats why he forgot, and she said first you forget our anniversary and now this. So, in typical fashion of my father, he says "Well if youre going to be pissed then fuck it, I dont give a shit" and he walks out. All he had to say is sorry and admit he was wrong but no hes a fucking prick and I swear after he puts me through college I'm never speaking to him again.

i hear ya dude, my mom went through the SAME EXACT thing and living on her own was the hardest part since it was the first time she had ever lived by herself. but in the end it was the best thing for all of us. and if it makes you feel any better i havent spoken to my father in about a year. everyone has their shit ya know

everyone makes mistakes and is a dick sometimes...think about the kids above who lost their dads...

the last thing you want is to be on bad terms with him if something were to happen. Pick your battles, if you really hate your dad, then im sorry. If you're just saying that cause he was a dick and you're mad at him, don't be mad for long, you'll regret it.

HATE is a strong word. But I feel your pain. I HATE my old man as well. Since my brother and I were 12 we werent allowed to call him father or dad, we had to call him sargeant, sarge, and finish all sentences with sir. yes sir no sir.

maybe she doesnt really know how you feel though. take you mom out to dinner or coffee or something and talk it out with her. just talk, no confrontation, no you did this, or he did this, hes a piece of shit etc...just talk. 1) it shows her that you really do care and 2) it shows her that even though this is a shitty situation you've matured through it....picking up what im putting down young grasshopper? hope it works out for you :)

well, my dad was a jerk... he fucked around on my mom, was lazy, let her work to support the house and the family while he sat on his ass... and i totally cut him out of my life.

but now i think im regretting it because there was still some good in him you know? you only get one father. maybe think about it some more and look at his good qualities too. ill bet your dad cares about you and your future if he is willing to sacrifice enough to send you to college.

does anyone actually have a family anymore? i mean, parents that are still together, and happy? the family unit is really falling to pieces.

yeah my dad's the man, not trying to make you feel bad.  divorce would probably be the best for your mother and you.  maybe you should pull her aside one time and just talk, it wouldnt hurt.

My dads doesnt forget shit like that but he is a stubborn as hell and he thinks he knows everything which is bullshit and he's always stressed and puts that shit on me and my brothers like were the source of his stress but infact hes just got somethin up his ass. Its funny the only time my dad is ever cool is when hes skiing like he doesnt care half as much about shit and hes way cooler.

Sorry about your dad dude just talk to him if you can and tell him straight up how you feel.

I am by far the minority, Parents have been together for 27 years, 2 kids, one boy one girl, older child is the boy,  Father works, mother raised the kids.  I don't know any friends that have this same traditional ideal family that I have, not saying that I dont fight with my dad etc, i do but i think that is natural.

No good can come of any of this if you continue to accept him as a part of your life, and your mom continues to do so.

If he really is as horrible a person as you make him out to be, and destroys the household as much as it seems from your post, he needs to be cut out.

Your mom is allowing an unhealthy living situation to perpetuate. She continues to put up with his abuse and negative actions that show a pattern that will not stop. By accepting his money for college, you are further giving him a sign of approval and acceptance.

Why should he feel the need to change his ways, or become a better person if there are no true ramifications for his actions?
