Matt here.
I was at COC, the last session.
The site bragged on about a superpipe, no hiking, private ropetoe. Then after we paid and they had our money, we got an email telling us no rope toe.
In addition, there were no tramps for technical learning, which sucked balls. Ken tried to make it up to us by having other activities, such as white water rafting every day, etc etc..
Really, what i noticed, is ken and whoever else is involved with the administration at COC sucks balls. The ropetoe was officially because they had to order the parts from sweden.. horseshit.. we pay what 4 grand to go to the camp.. the trampolines being missing, were because simply the lady wasnt there to do them.. so hire another fucking instructor.. I went to camp to learn- thats what the tramps are there for- i paid to go and learn stuff, and they wernt. instead I got repaid with bullshit nonski activities such as 'more paintballing' and 'white water rafting' and 'wakeboarding every day'. If you ask me thats horseshit- i didnt want more of that- i wanted to learn more. The organizational skills of the COC administration sucked all week. Me and and several of the last kids getting off the plane, basically wandered aimlessly around the fucking airport and found one guy, without a sign, with this tiny little COC tee shirt on. They sent him to get like 3 people from 2 seperate terminals. By the time we had found him, and gotten to the bus, the road was closed to whistler, and we waited till fucking 12 am to get up there. There goes our afternoon. We get up there.. seems Ken doesent have a room setup for us, so we have to have an arguement with the desk-bitch for 30 min to get her to give us a room. Yay for that.
The activities were fun. The ski couches were good! Kudjos to them for giving us what we deserve on there part.. that part was good. The rest of the activities showed poor organization.. several days the glacier ran out of water for people.. which sucks as its so dry, and some/all of us are hiking it. Little things like that made parts of the camp shitty.
In short, next year im going to high north if i go to skicamp. My coaches at COC, such as sterbenz, griff, and everyone else was great. Ken came across as 'cool', but way too laid back and uncaring. The truth of the matter is, i didnt get what i paid for.. and i ended up with a soar back the first day as i ended up sleeping on the floor of the hotel room, because the desk bitch only gave us a room with 2 single beds. (and crammed 3 of us into it, yet we paid for our own bed originally).
Thats my thoughts on COC.
On the bright side.. im stoked for the season, won a pair of look bindings.. and met some damn cool people. Still, coulda been better.
