i think rap is more of base line is all you hear really then hip hop has base and everything else and base is equal.

There is no such thing as 'rap music'. Rapping is the lyrical style, whereas hip-hop is the whole sound, lyrics included.

Limp Bizkit is rap, does that make them hip-hop? No.

if you wanna get nit picky, hip-hop is the culture (mc-ing, dj-ing, graffitti, breaking) and rap is the term used to describe the music.

Rap is commercial hip-hop, shit like Nelly, Ludacris, that kind of stuff...I think hip-hop is more underground, stuff like Mos Def, Jurassic 5 (not THAT underground), People Under The Stairs, stuff that isn't on TRL...
