What are your thoughts on this? Think its immoral or no? Personally I don't get why apple/ at&t would want to brick phones since it costs them phone bill revenue. I could understand forcing people who hacked it to go back with at&t but bricking it doesn't make sense to me
I believe he is referring to the update for the iphone that apple released that basically makes your phone die if you are someone who has altered it in any way so that it can be used by other carriers other than AT&T.
Yeah, I dunno about all this, some are saying it bricks legit iPhones too...I'm looking at getting one, but I'll be making sure it is on 1.0.2 firmware. I want to run 3rd party apps and the new update removes all 3rd party apps and in some cases bricks phones. Apple could've done it so that is just flashed back to locked ATT phone, they really screwed up by making the new stuff brick phones.
"Nothing is impossible. You are only limited by fear and even that you can overcome."
exactly, I can bet there going to release a way to go back to at&t, why wouldn't they? there losing money by bricking your phone in the long run... and the stores are still selling 1.0.2 firmware phones so guy buy one fast
Its a tough call. I feel like they had to do something because unlocking the iphones was really bad for ATT financially. Also, it could be avoided. If people just restored their iPhones before applying the update they would be fine. I am running 1.1.1 right now and it is definitely an improvement. The wireless music store is definitely cool, and the ability to use double-space as a period is so much easier. But it marked the end of 3rd party apps at least for a while. From what im hearing, we should be getting jailbreak for 1.1.1 in the next few weeks. I miss those 3rd party apps!
yea the ringtones thing is a bummer, but ive realized that I so rarely use a ring on my phone that is doesnt really bother me. I leave it on vibrate 90% of the time.
As for the apps. Lets hope they are coming. Ive heard apple may be developing approved third party apps that could be sold through the itunes music store. we will have to wait and see. its only been 3 months since launch, so time will tell....
