Arapahoe Basin lays claim to the nation’s largest terrain expansion this year.
A-Basin is expanding Montezuma Bowl, on the backside of the mountain, which increases the ski area’s terrain by 80 percent.
The new terrain includes blue, black and double black slopes for a total of 36 additional runs. These runs include cornices, chutes, glades and wide-open bowls. It’s definitely not for the feint of heart.
It’s a $3 million project that is sticking to a tight time frame as well as environmental standards. The Montezuma Bowl expansion is expected to open for the holidays, sometime in late December.
