Dont throw your poles at the ground

so i did my second ever sw up 270 out on my summer setup and my brother was filming. right after i landed it he laughed and said he missed the shot so i angrily slammed my right pole at the ground right in front of me. The pole bounced back up and hit me in the eye, bruising my retina and some other condition that i forgot the name of - but the white blood cells in my eye kind of just float around (it doesn't look nasty, you cant even see it)
moral of the story - throw your poles away from your body, or hold on to them if you decide to throw them down at the ground

Reminds me of a vid I saw of some guys trying to smash a piano with baseball bats. The bat bounced off the piano, hit the guy on the forehead, and knocked him out.

I will never encounter said problem. I do not utilise poles.

they bounced because i didnt jab it into the snow. i rotated it down so it landed parralel with the ground, and then the tip flew back up. it was a summer sesh, so it hit the ground. my eye isnt fucked for life, its just slightly blurry right now and its gonna heal. im taking eye drops 4 times a day

haha reminds me of this weird part of the season...
i would throw my poles like 40ft on accident whenever i over rotated Bs sw ups. It was so weird cuz it was like my natural reaction to send my poles flying on only one trick. Eventually i almost hit someone and started wearing my straps.

That sucks mang. Hope your eye gets better.
Poles have done their number on me too. I was dropping a cliff and as I landed, my pole shot up into my face and broke my nose and fucked up my lip/teeth.

when i was learning 7s, i got really frustrated after yet another crash and threw my pole at the side of my ski sticking out of the snow. The edge of my ski somehow sliced the pole almost all the way through. But a broken pole is certainly better than an injured eye.
