i'm building a summer-setup but i have no idea which material i should use for the rail..would pvc work???

wet soapy carpet works sometimes
astro turf works
orange snow fence works

since your new, i don't expect you to know this, but seriously everything you need to know is located somewhere on this site, so search for it with the searchbar before posting

pvc works very well, i like it more than metal for summer set ups. also i recommend you use one large pvc pipe rather than two smaller ones because that is more durable
