ok so ive got the opportunity to get some Rossi's for a good price. I'm 5'8'' 164 lbs, aggressive skier. Ski all over the mtn. True love is park. 174 Scratch FS or 176 Scratch BC?

is the fatness of the BC really an advantage cuz ive ridden pretty skinny jib skiis forever. and im wondering if the waist is gonna be a burden, or is it gonna be a burden that i will come to love?

its an advantage for all mtn skiing and powder...which is what its designed for. Id rather ski a fat ski in the park than a skinny ski in powder

cheaper one, and by judging from your sig. u r in the east. the bc will not give you any advantage other than added weight and looks like a fool on the hill. but you will be different on the hill.

well i do try to travel up north and we might be going west this year or the next. im thinking the extra width would be more stable and such. and my friend who rides here on the east has BCs and love em. course i do ride bumps as well and im thinking that the width is gonna suck there. seeing as im kinda split - which way would you guys go?

First of all, I'd delete any posts that mess up the column width of this forum.

Secondly, as an Eastern skier, I'd opt for the FS. It's already 80 mm underfoot which gives you plenty of float on those rare Eastern powder days. Going wider just impedes how well you can engage the edge - i.e. it'll suck on hardpack. Don't forget the added weight too.

Going wider is great if you need a lot of forgiveness for your landings but I really think the benefits and appropriateness of the FS outweigh those of the BC.

Sorry to buck the trend...

DOn't be a moron, get the FS. If you're on the east you're gonna want a park ski, so many people that ski on the groomers are getting a fat ski, and some of those people are big guys who need it, but most aren't and they just want a fat ski to 'cool'.

yea - thats my intent to be 'cool.' a friend of mine who is a pretty good skier rides the BC on the east and likes it. I've talked to other people who simply prefer a fat ski over a skinnier. So no I'm not trying to be cool, I'm just trying to explore my options.
