S-Rail

i have a pretty decent inrun for this summer, but i want to build an s-rail. i cannot get it welded, but is there any way i can make it out of pvc and wood? or can i make a c-rail out of pvc and wood?

you could make a decent C-rail out of plywood and HDPE or lexan, but idk about PVC, you could give it a shot

well it wouldnt be too too hard... just get 1/2 inch pvcs then make it so the wood is really thin and can be malleable that way you can tilt the wood and such (not sure if that made sense) but if its thin you will be able to somewhat move it...adjusting to the hights of the supports

what if you found like an old trampoline and worked with that? it would make a good S but idk about the supports

make a wooden frame then buy a sheet of hdpe or whatever and cut the pieces like this.

this summer I'm going to try to make a wooden frame and then bend the pvc in that type of shape with 2 rails on theout edges. ive seen some done like this so it should work.

yeah just buy a lot of like 1/2 inch pvc and you could definetly bend that enough

yes it is in face possible to make a c box without heating the pvc.

what i would do is cut sheets of 3/4 inch plywood with a sawzall in to four c's, two to the left and two to the right, then double up both left ones and both right ones on top of each other, then connect them together to make an "s", And then just give it legs, and pvc should bend as long as its not to thick.

ive seen you post that pic before and i was going to shoot for a similar type of layout.

i tried using a heat gun on 1 inch and it made it extremely bendable but you can just bend it with force anyways.

yeah, if you use that size pipe (the one i used) it will bend soo easily. but you need 2 people to actually keep it bent while you screw it in from the bottom.

another way is to plant nails to hold it bent, then screw the wood to the pipe. as you can see from the pic, we did that too.

2x 8 foot 2x4
1x 10 foot 2x6
2x 10 foot pvc pipe
multiple amounts of screws and nails.
to make it more sturdy you could use 4x4s instead of 2x4s for the supports. you might want to buy 3 or 4   8 foot 2x4s because you will need to use triangle supports unlike we did. ill probably get some more pics of that bad boy up here like tomorrow.

what if you heated it and put it in a pipe bender and bent it real slow?

i think that would work, you'd just have to do it really slow so it wouldn't snap, then put it in the frame so it can cool down and not lose its shape
