they're manageable as all mountain skis if you're really good. it helps if you're kinda bigger too. i have a pair that i skied all mountian for a few days in utah, and they're capable, but you'd have a much easier time with something like an 4frnt msp, k2 seth or rossi scratch bc/brigade. they'll turn well, and hold a good edge on hardpack, but they're kind of lumbering and cumbersome to ski a whole season all over the mountain. if there's any way you can use something else for non-fresh days, definitely get them, they're fucking awesome for pow and choppy afternoon resort pow. it's just kind of unnecessary to have a ski that big for all around.
If you are a bigger guy, I would imagine pretty fucking awesome assuming you like a stiff ski. I haven't ridden ANT's but I have JP Juliens and they have become my favorite all mountain ski. The ANT's have more sidecut so I actually think if you had the mass and strength to handle them they would rip. That's my 2 cents.
you have a be a bigger guy or a very strong skier. I had my pair for 2 seasons and they are the only thing i ride. however there are definitely days i wish i had something else. they arent a ski to just go a fool around on. you put on a pair of ants you are going to charge. they work best a speeds that others skis would be out of control at.
im buyin them for my grandpa for his birthday possibly, but i might be buying a pair of public enemies, he's been skiin for a long ass time and I think he could handle them cause right now he has a pair of 210cm salomons and a apair of 184's also. He wants to switch over and get some twins and I looked at a pair of ANTs on ebay and they look like they would be fun for him.
I rodea pair for almost the whole season. And as some have said...it helps if ur a bit bigger. I weigh 80kg and they are fuckin sweet for me. Just the stability of the ski is soooo good. It´s really good forhicking cliffs 2 because of the low swing weight on those big mothers!!!
I say get them...In fact I have a new pair in plastic...sellin´ them for 500CAD.. If U live near whistler, U´ll find my Ant´s the cheapest ant´s in town.
