All you liberals out there, this is the guy you want. He knows what he's talking about..and isn't afraid to state what he believes him. Plus he believes people should have the right to bear arms...so he'll get lots of conservatives votes. He got 48% of the moveon.org primary a couple weeks ago. He's the dem's best choice..and the only TRUE dem out their possibly. I think he has what it takes to beat Bush.

hahahahahahahaha....anyone else from vt actually want DEAN as president? jesus christ, he has his head so far up his ass its not even funny. He has NO experience (no foreign policy backround, no REAL political pull, hes a right wing politician with small minded views and a hero's approach to a government)

he ended up as governor of vt because he wanted a recreational BIKE PATH. He has a strong history of going against the peoples wished (civil unions were strongly opposed by a majority of our state, yet he still signed the bill, even though he is elected to serve the PEOPLE, he served his own beliefs)

trust me, were all better off with Dean NOT in the White house

haha very true, id put my support behind Jimmy Dean any day of the week

as far as Dean goes, its a lost cause. Its a pipe dream for him trying to become the president. The democratic party needs a canidate that can possibly unseat a wartime president, and Dean just isnt that. Kerry has a much better shot at a victory, and even then wartime presidents ride the wave of success into elections (only Bush I lost re-election after a war, never know, bush 2 could do it)

The man for us is Wesley Clark, he's a former NATO supreme allied commander, first in class graduate of west point, rhodes scholar, and he'll attract even some conservatives. Everyone who has critiziced Dean so far is pretty much a F.R. Post-Revisionist. Unsatisfied with the man, they simply criticize without much justification. You claim that Dean goes against the people - well my god he legalized gay marriage. What an aweful aweful sin, I mean really equality for minorities what a bastard he is. I don't care if the people don't want it, its right. Like the other guy said, do you think that southern whites wanted to give blacks right, no, but it happened, and life is better for it.
Arguably, Bush has done a damn good job of covering his tracks what with every goddamn paper in the country glamorizing our fight for peace, our crusade to victory for Iraq. Meanwhile, our environment is destroyed, civil rights are eroded, and large businesses gain momentum over blue collar folks.

Bush's War - its been discussed previously, so if anyway wants to read that argument, go back in this forum and find the argument, Petek, others, and I showed some pretty good reasons why this war is bad.

But quite possibly the worst thing about Bush is his extensions into the economy. Clinton left bush with an economic surplus, but that surplus is long gone. The stock market is down, unemployment is up from Clinton's presidency, and large corporations are getting more and more money. Yes thats right money. Bush aids oil industries by giving them money and rights to control Iraqi oil. Bush also gives money to large farm corporations. This farm companies buy out the smaller family owned farms and put out mass amounts of toxins into the air, and the food they produce. But most importantly they overrun small businesses. The small man gets stepped on - the lower middle class gets picked apart by way of Bush's support for them.

No Howard Dean is not perfect. But in the shadows of Bush's mishaps, he is, in my opinion a more suitable fit.

I almost forgot something.

Iraqi hospitals.

Lets think about this... the major military assualut on Iraq is over - mass amounts of injured. America is now engaged in widespread guerilla warfare. Even more injuries. Now think about Iraq prior to the war - generally a poor country with misdirected resources. That would imply that Iraq's medical system is already at loose ends. A country that has money flying into the wrong hands most often has a poor medical system. And Iraq did.
Previously, supplies were low, doctors were low.
So now add in the large extra burden a war will have. Mass amounts of patients flood in and out. Iraqi hospitals can no longer take care of people - their blood supplies, medical resources, antibodies, machines, and tools are mostly outdated and over used. Due to war, power sources are weening and rolling blackouts are normal. Often unscheduled this blackouts stop key machines from working to keep people alive. The US Gov't has done nothign to insure or help these situations.
Resources are stretched extremely thin --- to the point where hospitals have had to shut down, patients who rely on dialysis machines to live cannot obtain the necessary tools. Doctors, hospitals, organizations have all pled to the US Gov't to aid them. Yet we have not.

You may call that a necessary by product of war. I do not. The US has enough resources enough committees to tackle this problem. We are a country blessed with much money and ample supplies. Iraq hospitals are a sanctuary for the injured. If we are indeed providing freedom and security to Iraq then it would only be fitting that we supply them with proper hospitals. Yet, the gov't has not yet done a thing in regard to hospitals. That is shameful.

The answer for Dean is no. He might be a great guy and have some good policies, but he can't win a general election, he's just not appealing enough to the moderates who are tempted to vote for Bush. He'll appeal to the moderates on the superficial level, but his real convictions and policies are just as liberal and progressive as anyone's, and he's an expert on foreign affairs; he's said one of his main priorities would be to re-establish friendly ties with the rest of the world. gdawg. thats the problem with the american public. we are too focused on the immediate ties we have to candidate, plus we assume too much. 'o hes a general, then ill be protected, o he was a diplomat, we'll have good allies.' that of course is all a load of shit. just b/c someone has experience in a field he is not qualified not could he possibly act in that field with excellence.
our government was constructed under that principal. the fathers of the constitution knew that one of the reasons dictatorships fall is b/c they are not dynamic - there was not enough political diversity that situations could be seen in multiple lights. the reason our government is divided with checks and balances and multiple groups presiding over multiple issues is that we achive political diversity. we can now tackle situations from different angles. diversity breeds solution.
the role of the president is to have a clear mind as to what is in the best interest of the people. to have a clear mind as to what ethics and morals and laws need to be applied and how. the president is not supposed to be a gunho general or an overly friendly diplomat.
the word president comes from the latin word Presideo - meaning to guard or protect. it is the duty of the president to oversee specialized groups tackle the matters which they are most familiar. he will put the rights of the people at the forefront of problems and use his resources in an effective matter so taht US is protected.

in that light, i think that Dean is a better man and the best pick over Bush. sure, other guys might be more appealing to the general public (like bush) but that doesn't make them the right choice.

Moderates are looking for a difference between the two nominees. Nominates are also looking for leaders who state what they really think. Howard Dean has both of those qualities.

And please..dont call bush a wartime president. thats giving him way to much credit. Telling someone to go drop bombs from B-52's on a 3rd world country...should not be considered a war time president.

actually dean had vermont ina very good position. every child now gets insurance and free health care. his one mistake was probably the act 60. civil unions i have no opinion on, it doesnt bother me one bit. he is about the rights. now ay people have the right to get married, the only reason its shunned upon is the image that the church puts on gay people.

dean would be so good for this country get bush out da office. there is the highest deficit ever and clinton even left the surplus. bush is a moron. his war was to cover up all the little changes that he has made that benefit him and the rich.

i dont have a problem with civil unions, act 60 was a clusterfuck of epic proportions. All im saying is Dean has no chance, the democratic party needs a canidate that has a chance to unseat bush in 04', and Dean isnt that popular outside of New England. In states such as Texas and many other Pro-Republican States, Dean would be beaten by bush handily. In swing states, voters would be much more likely to vote for a wartime president then the governor of the small state of vt

everyone seems to miss the point that no matter how bad bush continues to fuck up your country, i dont think ANYONE has a chance at beating him in 2004. It's sad really, because such a lying piece of shit pretty much has nothing to worry about...

...UNLESS...

there is any actual weight to the calls for impeachment (finally!!!) from the one demo' senator. If clinton gets impeached for lying about a blowjob, bush should get impeached for invading a sovern nation.

i think Bush can be beat. And the only way for that to happen is to hvae a democrat that can actually debate with him about topics and have disagreements because anyone as long as they totally differ from Bush can make him look like an idiot.

Most democrats can't argue with Bush on the war on Iraq because they voted for it. Dean is the only democrat with a chance that can argue with Bush.
