This summer i will be getting a new camera, hopefully a vx2100 if i can get my second job, but i was wondering if i record into the minidv tape with that camera, then capture the footy onto my comp with a shitty old camera, will the uploaded video still be the same quality?
yeah if it is possible, it definitely helps to upload with a handycam or something.. also try to to pause/rewind/fast forward footage when you playback on your VX
yeah thats what ive been told, what is the purpose of this, to save the heads? ill mainly be filming surfing, but for skiing are their any precations i should take, like going from warm to freezing temp quickly?
it is to save the heads. when you have such an expensive piece of equipment, you kinda want to keep it functioning to the money you dropped on it...so yea baby it.
also one more VERY important thing. use ONLY one kind of tape. dont use a jvc tape, then a panasonic, then fujifilm etc. different tape brands use different lubricants and different libricants can really fuck up your camera. one of my friends lost a camera to this. personally i stick with fujifilm...they seem to be a nice solid tape which doesnt skip and is nice and crisp
continued use of your high-end camera (gl2, vx1 - vx21) will put a lot of wear and tear on your heads. I've had to replace this before it costs upwards of $400
Because MiniDV decks are so expensive ($1000+) your best bet is to buy a cheap capture cam
