Scratch fs WRS questions?

Okay, so I think this is it. I can get this ski for a very, very good price with Axial 120 bindings. Im currently on 176 T-Halls, and they are being warrantied for some ArV's, so im looking at 174 Scratch fs WRS. How do these skis hold up? Ill be centre mounting them, they will be my park ski. They ride nice, durrable bade/edge? Ive seen some pairs with pressure cracks, whats the deal with that? If you have them, post whether you like/hate them, and reasons why. That would really help my decision.

i only have 7ish days on mine but i love them they are so nice the swing weight is non existant, i love the durability compared to my 05-06 ar5s, the edges seem like they are a little thin but i dont care ive been focsing on pipe anyways, if you can get a good deal on them i defiantly say get them they are so much fun, super poppy

as far as i know of the pressure cracks have mostly been present in the BC's for this year. i cant testify for this years fs's but i have had both the 04/05's and the 05/06's and they have been fantastic skis. the quality has been great on both sets and after multiple seasons ive had no edges rip out, no delam, still poppy and have plenty of camber left, topsheets are suprsingly durable(yes they will chip a little and scratch up but you wont usually find big chunks missing). ill wait for someone who actually owns this years to give you a review on them but just try searching around and i bet youll have a hard time finding threads from people who have had any real problems with their scratches.

I can't comment specifically on the WRS, but I have owned the 04/05 and the 05/06. The 04/05s were great, but the topsheets chipped all to hell. The 05/06 I still ride A LOT. They are just a great all mountain ski and they slay in the park. And oh, they extremely durable. I have been riding them for two seasons and there is not ONE SINGLE chip on the topsheet, no edge cracks that I know of and I actually put a huge dent between the edge and sidewall on the tail and it has not budge at all, and this is a year later. They are probably the most durable park skis I have ever had, and they hold up well all over the mountain. The improvemens between the original scratches and the 05/06 were huge, and if the WRS is as big of an improvement, it is most likely a really kick ass ski. I have heard they are a little squirrelier this year, but I would have to guess they are a really bad ass skis and you really can't go wrong with them.

O and maybe wait till over the summer/next fall to purchase. I know every year my shop totally over buys the scratch fs and they have literally pallets of last years skis for sale for really cheap. And since they have so many, I would bet you could talk down the price a lot.
And, have you seen next years pro model scratches? The Candides and Hatviets look absolutely sick. If they do end up producing these topsheets be on the lookout they are super cool.

Own the create it's. Mine are at true center and They're really nice. They certainly don't carve as well as a ski mounted further back, but they're nice switch. They're stiffer in the middle and really soft in the tip and tail... if you're fat enough you can get some mean butters.

I have the fs wrs in 174 and i swear it is the greatest ski I have ever ridden. And i have ridden so many skis. They are longer and wider than my last pair yet still lighter. The flex is perfect. It feels soft in the park. Easy for butters but stiffens up on the mountain and big jumps, no chatter. No edge cracks, virtualy no base damage, after many rails. They are mounted at -2 and ski switch just dandy. They're very versital all mt too. Minor sidwall chipping but much better than previous years. The only problem has been purly cosmetic stress cracks on the tip. They do not affect the ski at all and have not progressed or look like they will progress to delam. This is what i heard. The tips have rubber in them. The rubber keeps the tips from breaking when you smash them against a rail. It is only in the tips. But the top sheet is less flexible than the core at that spot so it causes stress cracks. My friend watched a guy at the shop bend the tip completely flat and back without breaking it. Its what i heard and im buying it. I love the ski

I have them in 181 mounted 1.5 cm behind true center. They're awesome skis, very responsive, poppy and butters are easy to do on them. I only had one problem with them, a major one I should say. A piece of sidewall popped off the ski leaving only the edge. I sent them back to Rossi for warrantee and they fixed them for free. The job they did is somewhat poorly done, but they held up since. Bottom line, I think I was unlucky with them, but they are great skis.

well I was planning on mounting them at +2 from the recommended freeski line, which is -4 from center I believe. Maybe I will move it forward a cm or two further from that.

measure it out first because i know on my 05/06's true center is 7+ from the "modern" line. im pretty sure the dimensions for this years and last years are the same.

my last pair of scratches were -4 (or +2), my new ones are -2 If you ride switch alot and are gonna ride 60% park at the least id suggest -2. Just enough to keep most all mt performance but you gain alot more in the park

I think like my boys above I mounted them at 1.5 or 2 from center. My first pair I had mounted at the reccomended line and they were mounted way to far back. They were not doing it switch for me. I had them remount them center which they messed up twice so I got a brand new pair. These I did around 1.5 from center which I am glad i did, because I think that is the sweet spot.

i have the 181's mounted -1cm from center and they rock. i was on msp's before, and i was worried that these wouldn't be as solid as the msp for big jumps. i've hit some very big jumps as of late on my fs wrs's and they absolutely kill it. super solid. and they're soooo light. i've never spun easier with any ski. the narrower footprint (compared to msps) kills rails and is super quick edge to edge on groomers. they ride switch better than anything i've ridden before. as for durability... i've taken a handful of the worst park crashes of my life (i weigh about 180 lbs so i have a fair amount of force behind me) and these skis have taken them in stride. no stress cracks, no cracked edges, no compromised core, nothing. hands down best park ski i've ridden.

awesome... you sound a lot like me... 6'4" and 190 lbs... I also ride 4FRNT msps and while they kill it they are pretty big stiff and heavy for the park. These FS WRSs will be my park only sticks and the MSPs will be for bigger mountain and the pow pow. So thanks for the advice, I will definitely go closer to true center.
