Urgent!

i know this should go in media and arts section but i'm really frantically desperate.  so yeah i was reviewing  jay peak powder footage from yesterday on my minidv tape on my sony digital camcorder and it started to eat the tape. i was able to get the tape out but i have about 6 inches of the tape sticking out of the tape cartridge.  has any one had any experience with this and is it at all possible to salvage the tape? thanks, i really really hope it's possible to save it, i dunno

I think if you just flip up the thing on the tape and roll it up with your finger it should work it will probably skip a little though

if the tape isn't too crumpled, you can flip up the top of the tape and wind it back in manually. but chances are good you'll drop a lot of frames on that area of the tape and it might get eaten again when you try to play it back.

i've found one camera store so far that'll repair the tape no problem for 10 bucks.  but the catch is that they only repair tapes if they transfer it to a dvd also which of course costs more money, like 30 dollars more.  i told them it was a bunch of a bull that they couldn't just give me the tape back for the 10 dollars.  so i'm gonna look at some other options but i may take this one because it's my only option.  i'm just gonna start up a collection fund to help me pay for it.  my friends who were involved in the filming already said they'd be willing to chip in some money.
