Threshold for sponsorships...

Allright, i've been thinking for a long time now, and I want to know where the threshold, or the point where you're good enough to be sponsored. Lately it seems like its been all over the place, some kids(not THAT good) at my home mountain have mad hook-ups, while there are others who kill it and have ridiculious(sp?) style have nothing...

So NS, where do you think that magical point is? And no, I don't want to be sponsored, and yes I checked the searchbar...

keep in mind it's also about representing a particular brand on and off the hill. Being real skilled is just part of it, a big part don't get me wrong...but having fun and backing a brand is huge too.

It depends on where you live/where you're competing/who you know, that is almost as important as the talent. I have a friend who didn't even have a video just some results at the open and got hook ups from oakley and smith, and now obermyer.

It also has a lot to do with visibility (how much you ski, where you ski, and if other people know you) and how you will be representing the company.

allright, form whats been said so far, its looks like its all about who you know and how chill you are, but its not like reps just chill on the slopes all day looking for chill people, or meeting new kids, so I guess I don't understand...

you have to be proactive, go out and introduce yourself to the reps and other guys (shop managers, etc.) start getting your name out there, whether its in local comps or edits you do yourself. most companies wont sponsor someone that a rep or other employee hasnt met/skiied with before
