I have a pass to Brighton, but have skied Alta a decent amount. They're way different. For sure try both and see what you like. Alta has that skiers only, super classic yet gnarley feel to it. lots of traversing, lots of amazing shit. Brighton is a bunch of flair bear snowboarders, but on a pow day can be pretty sick. Lots of little cliffs and fun things everywhere. Have Fun.
im gunna be in alta the first week of march too. iv heard they are way behind on snow totals. how is the snow there? nice and soft or is it gunna be bumps everywhere?
Well on your first day out here, it will be snowing really hard, and you'll get epic faceshots. Then the next day it will be bluebird. Then it will warm up a bunch and freeze into a crust overnight, so the day after that will suck. Then the next day, we'll get like, an inch, but it will be dust on crust, so it will still kind of suck. Then it will warm back up and then it will cool back down and then we'll get 2 feet of snow.
alta closes down at the end of feburary because it is on national forest land and birds nest in the area.
brighton is alright the first week of march, lots of slushy spring conditions, and fun pond skims. Plus all these moose show up and they are really fun to ski around and race down the mountain. One time a moose was chasing my buddy down the mountain and I skied up behind the moose and jumped on him and then rode him around and made him ram gapers with his massive antlers. it all ended with me having to use the edge of my skis kung fu style to slash down fifty-five ski patollors and fleeing down the mountain towards midway.
March is a dangerous time with all the political turmoil and lepers in the woods.
hahaha, Idk, but alta is closed, and will never open again. so don't even try to buy a pass. or come in march again, cuz there isn't gonna be any snow, or mountain, snowbird is blowing alta up to put in a bigger parking lot.
haha, I knew those Texans down the road would be Alta's undoing one day. RIP Alta. In other news, I hear they're turning Brighton into a golf course, they didn't have to change much.
damnit, i thought they were going to turn alta into a sledding hill not a parking lot. looks like im going to have to find a new place to bust out my snowlerblades and saucer
