whats so good about it? im debating whther or not to re-mount my volkl karma's...they are mounted normal FR (freeride) instead of FS(freestyle)...i really want to try more spins this year and increase my skill on rails/boxes, but i dont know what the difference and advantage is that center-mounting gives you. can someone please explain thoroughly thank you!
Center mount is great for park. But its eaiser to ride park mounted back than it is to ride all mountain on center mounts. So unless you ride like over 90% park i dont think its worth it.
so do you guys think i should re-mount them according to my situation? i love speedin down the hill and makin good turns, plus my dad is amazing at skiing ( like 5+ days heliskiing already in 2007 ) and motivates me to look soo "professional" but i want to be able to throw 3's over anything and grab a lot easier.
***they are already mounted FREERIDE, and i heard that REMOUNTING them isnt always the best since you are re-cutting into the core of the ski*** HELPHELPHELPHELPHELP
i take the lift to the park. hit it once/twice ( walk back up ) then ski down hill and jib off w/e then take lift up again and do it all over... idk if its worth it, but if i DO REMOUNT and i am a lot better at park then i will probably be skiing park only. but i will never know unless i remount EL OH EL fuck
Center is nice, but i felt like i had too much tail, so i went 1cm behind center when i warrantied my thalls. For you, if you really want to remount then do it, i did it on my ar5s from recomended to center, and i loved the change.
I wouldn't center mount Karmas.
1. They aren't really a park ski
2. They are good in pow (I think) so center mounting would make pow harder
3. They are not symetrical so a true center mount would make them very squirly.
If you were talking about a core center that would be an ok idea but if you really want a center mounted ski go for a park ski or a symetrical ski such as Invaders, Addicts, of Urban Triplets.
Use your Karmas everywhere but park and pick up a cheap park ski if you can. You'll get more days out of your Karmas that way and have a park ski.
