so last saturday, apparently asher crank from the crested butte team, hit his head on a jump at copper, and was wearing a helmet. he got flown out on a flight for life to denver and this morning he died...was anyone there to see what happened? anyways, lets all ski in memory of our fellow rider.
Eh shit's def for real. I was messing around at dub-v two years ago. Just gapering it down the slope switch tried coming back around caught my edge and put my pole into my side. Turns out as a result a year later my liver was 40% f'd and I spent 3 weeks in the hospital in critical condition with 3 surgical teams trying to keep me alive.
Shits def a real sport, and all we can do is progress at our own speeds, not get cocky, and have fun.
It's a shame he is dead, but what a way to go, I am sure he was ripping the slopes up.
damn. ben, i hope everything is cool with you. i would be shaken up for quite a while if something like that happened to me. its scary when something like that hits so close to home. ill see you around man. have fun at the open this week if you are going to be there.
Asher was a great person and a good friend. He was one of the most talented skiers i have ever ridden with. In a matter of 2 years of park skiing, he progressed more than anyoned i have ever seen. Crested Butte is devastated by this trajic loss. You will be missed by your CB posse Asher. You had the greatest attitude towards life and we all love you. You were such an amazing kid who inspired us all. You have impacted so many lives with your amazing talent and your wonderful attitude towards life. Prayers to Ashers family, friends, my good buddy Somrak who had to witness this horrible accident, and the Cb community.
Wow this is the worst thing u could think off... Kid was only 17 had his whole live in front of him, what i just read it seems that he'd is a big skier nd would be even greater. My support to his family nd friends! Im sure he has an awesome time in heaven...
actually he was on the third jump of the set and went huge and lost it in the air. He landed on his head from a height of about 30 feet. That's the story I read at least. Peace be with his family and friends. He died doing what he loved and that is something most of us an only hope for...sure beats losing your legs while changing a tire! Fucked up week for teenagers man.
I correct myself...he was going into the third hit switch and underrotated while nearly overshooting the landing....as far as his coach says. peace be to his family and friends
Wow... that is so terrible when one of our own dies... Sac@TwoPlankProductions, and all who else were affected by his passing, I pray the best for all you. I cannot even begin to imagine what the pain is like witnessing one of your friends being taken away so suddenly. Ski in his memory, and ski everyday like your last because it could come anytime. RIP Asher...
asher....you influence us all so much, with your energy and your laughter and your skills.....this was going to be your year man.....and now it had to end like this. have fun riding the endless powder fields in the sky, my friend. you will be long missed by everyone whos lives you touched, but definitely never forgotten! rest in peace my brotha!
to ben....sorry about your deepest loss man. knowing both families and your past together i know this must be a shock of epic proportions...but keep your head up man, keep ripping. its what asher would have wanted us to do!
Losing people close to you sucks, but when their young and poised for a great life, it's the worst thing. You just gotta keep living how they'd want you to and make sure their memory lives on. It's true what billy joel said too.. Only the good die young. Keep your head up, rip harder then ever, and live, it's all you can do.
rest in peace my friend. I am sure he lived a wonderful place and is blessing us all with loving memories. Thanks for being apart of the freeskiing community.
I'm honestly curious, did he have any previous head injuries? I know its an unfortunate thing that this happened, but we got to live on and learn from mistakes. If he had previous head injuries that were bad and then ended up hitting his head again, its pretty easy to get brain damage I would think.
