Idea to help prevent ski theft

Yesturday I was guarding over my skis and my brothers on a deck just above where the ski racks were and I got thinking. Ski hills should put one or two hidden cameras overtop of the ski racks. If this is done someone could go back to the hill and tell management that at such and such time their skis were stolen. Hopefully then they could go through the footage from that day and catch a glimpse of the person who stole their skis and possibly identify the man or post his mugshot to prevent him from coming back to the hill ever again.
I know it's not completely water-tight because the robbers may have helmets and goggles on, but at least it may help catch 1 or 2 individuals who weren't as smart.

my mouatnin used to have racks that were compatible with a lock you can buy at a store for like 2 bucks but they got ride of that adn there just normal aluminum/wood racks so i just split my skis and put them on differnt racks, no one is gonna steal just one ski

wow...splitin the skis up sounds like a really good idea!
my hill has cameras watchin over the ski racks, the only problem with it is people who make one sweep of the place and never come back to the hill. plus you could be inside for like half an hour and your skis could be in a different state by the time you realise they are stolen. the only way to not get them stolen is a ski lock (yes they can be cut but someone will see them and say something) or just carrying in the lodge with you. my lodge says no skis or equipment inside but its yet to stop me from keepin them at my side. hopefully you have a staff at your hill committed to stoppin theft. i kno at Perfects in indiana i've seen a worker watch a guy in regular clothes for like an hour cuz he was suspicious of him stealing.

alot of mountains already have cameras, mine does (snowbird) and they're not hidden either, they have like signs posted that say video surveillance (sp i know) is in the area, to try and prevent it before it happens. plus if you have way nice skis, you can take a little extra time and place them in two places apart, cuz no one will want to steal 1 ski

I think it might be better if the cameras weren't hidden so they dont try to steal them in the first place

you going to pay for the cameras? Then pay ppl to watch the cameras? Then pay ppl to do an investigation? Plus at a tourist place thousands of ppl go through everyday, you try identifing somebody wearing ski clothes.

ive got an easier idea. place one ski and one pole on one rack. and the other ski and pole on another a bit away. cause who the hell would steal 1 ski or 1 pole?

im gunna say fuck ski locks for those of you who said it. i mean they are good for sure. but you should be able to go skiing and not have to worry about your shit.
they should make it so the video camera's are fuckin huge and can be seen everywhere, that way people know they are being watched, it would cut down theft by at least 70%.

you should be able to, but that doesnt mean thats how it will happen. The ski key system works the best ( http://www.skikey.com/ski-locks.htm ) Unlike the retractable locks these can be cut my a pair of sissors(yes thats right sissors is all it takes) or wire cutters because its locked into the rack itself. There only about 20 bucks and I have yet to visit a mountian or hill that doesnt have at least 1 ski key rack there

yeah but you do have to worry whether or not you want to. Also where are you getting these percents from, you think a camera is really going to stop people. If your wearing a skiing outfit they would never ever be able to locate you. You think they can remember every person who put down what board? At some resorts there are hundreds of boards or skis lined up. Just bring them everywhere you go, period.

or they can install like a really huge mirror by the ski racks, directed so anyone in the lodge can see their skis while they eat. it's cheap, you get to look at it yourself, and girls can get to do their make up and hair right on the slopes....it's win win!!
