anyone know how these ride, i'm thinking bout getting a pair... i'm not sure what i want to buy, but i think its gonna be a nice ski to ride... but yah how good are they
I got them and they are great. The reccomended mount point is the same as the Prophet 90 (8.5cm back), so if you want to use them in the park too, mount them further forward. I put them 4.5cm back from center to be more like the regular chronics I used in the past (5cm back). All in all they stomp the regular chronic in every aspect. They carve groomers better, they ski powder better, they jump better, they land better. I like the extra width for stability on rails too. Also, the top sheet looks tan or brown in all the photos but it is in fact metallic gold. Also, the top sheet doesn't scratch as easily as my old chronics did.
Well, I own them ans one thing I can tell you is that they don't have the metal matrix in them. They have a caron matrix that has approximatly the same dimensions as the metal matrix but does not bend around the sides of the ski to the edges. It adds pop while being light weight and it is not nearly as stiff as the metal matrix. They are a stiff ski in general, they as a Chronic after all. They are comparable to the regular chronic or the Volkl Karma. Stiff enough for all mountain, but soft enough to butter and pop.
i have them and i really like them. they rip pow nicely, and hold up on the groomers. nice for jumps, not so nice for rails (but that may be becasue they are bigger than what im used to) if you ski alot of park and are planning to have this as your only ski, i wouldnt recommend it. a very fun ride overall though
i have some either 4 or 5 year old twelve sixties and thats what i'm using for my park ski, just cause i thrashed the edges on them from stomping rails... so its going to be like an all mountian ski, and just riding rather than rails, but i have another ski for park too, if i decide to use them... but the main reason i want them is cause their fatter, and i seen them in the store and they look sick, i've already got a fair amount of money i was planning on putting towards them, and not to mention i have some money coming in like another week to put some money on them.. all in all i think i'm getting them in about 2 weeks or less, i've decided
