Just wondering just how many of you ride with their bindings on a raiser plate?? and if so or not why?

you don't need a riser for twins. im gettin some hardcore risers for my skiercross skis when i buy them next season

exactly how heavy are the raisers - i mean they are a strip of plastic. Can they make that much of a weight difference

a riser is just for race skis cause the have the narrow waist so it's to prevent your boot rubbing on the snow to save time. it's completely irrelevant to freesking

i have some P12 lifters coming in the mail for my PEs, so when i get them mounted should i get the lifters off? will i need shorter screws so they don't go through the bases? where can i get the shorter screws?

i thought riser plates gave you more leverage on turns for racing and stuff--i have them on my rossi carving skis but i didn't get them mounted on my twins to save weight (even though its minimal) and also to put my boot closer to the rail for sliding - i first tried rails on my rossis and their width (68cm underfoot) combined with the plates made it REALLY hard to slide--once it got twins it was sooo much easier

dont get risers cus it forces u to be more precise and they are not as forgiving especially seeing how u dont want to dig your edge into a rail not to mention they are usually plastic and if you land on them enough the compression will break them.

raisers are not for saving your boot from hitting the ground... i must say thats a pretty dumb post... raisers allow the skiier to get more torque out of their turn so they can get more flex and more of a harder carve... in essence the racer wants to have more angulation, this is what u need... however there are a lot of risks with higher raisers, liek the risk of fucking up your knees... and there are alot of regulations against certain risers (how tall etc), but for twins, i would recommend against em... more weight, less stable landings, etc

very tru ^.... but the biggest reason besides angulation in the knees is that it alows the racer to get over his skis and into the transition of the turn in less time. It also adds for example, Atomic uses heavy risers which provide a center of balance, i ride with small risers, they dont seem that much heavier, risers are also needed bepending on the binding!(i believe)

in a nutshell, risers shouldn't be put on freestyle skis/bindings.

however the line bindings are risen about 098098 feet, equivalent to 098093849080983409809 mm

I have the 10mm riser that came with my axial 140's mounted on the scratch BC, which for a ski that wide is not a bad thing. It makes it easier to put the wider skis on edge, (not that it is hard) and gives you that little bit of leverage in powder too. I would not say that it hinders your performance, or adds weight, cuz they only weigh a few grams.

you shouldnt buy them unless your going to just carve or race... they take away some of the feel from your skis and they are harder to land with and add weight as many other guys said.

yeah def take them off, i can feel a big difference on rails with them off, i feel much more smoother... with the risers i feel higher on the rails

ok, so my P12 lifters just came in the mail. there are the black toe pieces, and on the bottom, an orange plate thing. then there are the black tail pieces and an orange plate thing on the bottom. then there are the brakes, and also it came with 2 plates, just flat and they're orange/black. should i take the orange parts of the toe and tail pieces off and mount them without the plate that came with them? what parts should i use?

if you are taking lifters on or off, make sure you use the right screw length for what you are doing. The last thing that you want to do is screw right through a pair of brand new skis.

my shop said lifters were good and that you wouldn't know the difference on rails and landing jumps. Before you go saying anything, the guy that told me this is like one of the best skiers in australia...... so i think its a personal thing

first of all they are riser plates not raisers
second if you think they make landing harder that is all in your head, however for rails there could be a significant difference, depending on your jibbing style. risers howver if you plan on doing a lot of big mountain, back country, groomers, or anything besides rails adds a lot to what you can do on your skis.

^wrong risers are for leverage on your ski for turning, for anything but rails risers are good to have but for rails they could be a balance issue

ok, so i'm going to a shop this weekend to get my Look P12 Lifters mounted onto my PEs. There are no ski shops around here, so i have to resort to going to Dennis Sport Shop (the closest place that sells skis to me, still 2 hours away). If I tell them to just mount them without the lifters, do you think they'll know what to do? I'm gonna call them, make sure they know what they're doin.

i got rossi freeride 120s and they came with a 10mm lifter they seem to go ok on rails etc.. can't tell the differnce when i'm riding without lifters on another pair of skis

the lifters on rossi and look binders are lightweight plastic, and if a 10mm lift on your binding is causing you to have trouble on rails, then I don't think it's the binding that is the problem.





Never try to mix cool-aid with a wisk, it just doesn't work.
