Hey, can someone(preferable Canadian, as i don't want any chauvinist Americans commenting) please tell me something bad about Canada, because all i know about it, sounds real cool to me! I wanna live there if i ever leave NZ, Because here is pretty cool. Except a few fucked things. But yeah i wanna know something i don't know about Canada, the coolest country on earth to me at the moment! yay for Canada.

don't worry, there is plenty wrong with canada. It has a backward political system, which may or may not matter to you, but it does affect the country. revenues and expenditures are skewed across the country. Most of the revenue comes from BC Alberta and Ontario, and the expenditure goes to Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces.

1/2 of the Population live in Ontario and Quebec, again a reason for the eastern preference in much legislation. Taxes on the whole are also higher than many other countries, especially the United States. (with the exception of alberta, they seem to do a good job with their finances)

The health care system, although paid for by taxes, so essentially free when you go for a hospital visit, is not at the technological, skill, or efficiency levels of other countries, and is vastly under-funded, something that will have to change in the future.

However, despite these problems, Canada is still chosen by many, including the United Nations as one of the best places in the world to live. If you are moving here and love to ski, move to Vancouver or Calgary, you'll be disappointed in Ontario. Crime rates are low, standard of living is in the top 10 in the world, as well as GDP per person.

Move here and come to the West.

veteran: how do you propose the country deal with the inevitable regional disparities that face such a diverse nation? it seems that the federal system we presently make use of is the most effective and appropriate system for such a country. certainly it is more appropriate than a unitary system would be.

power is currently handed out through seats in the house of commons, which are given out in proportion to population. it's only logical to have seats in the house of commons represented proportionally to population.

anyways, i'd like to hear how you would change our current system given the opportunity..

There are several problems with canada one being western university the other being veteran. The biggest problem I would say is the French, that and Ontario, I live here and i would advise you to steer clear because its full of sallies, whiners, pussys and faggots like veteran.

see my signature? thats how. as much as i like canada, I am West Coast to the death, and BC and Alberta gotta leave. We, especially Alberta continually get screwed by the Federal government, mostly because of Quebec, I don't really have beef with Ontario, ive been living here for 2 years almost, but from my selfish perspective, BC and Alberta gotta leave.

I wish there was a way to do it otherwise. Health Care is a absolutely huge problem. As much as I love it free, and I do, some sort of privatization has to be implemented. Look at how underfunded it is now, think 10-15 years down the road when the baby boomers start to retire and start to need more medication, the age demographic is going to hit, and it won't be pretty.

Also, we gotta stop these retarded Liberal MPs from bashing the US, as much as you don't like them, keep it to yourself for christs sake, they are our largest trading partner and strongest ally (although we arent theirs). We do depend a great deal on them, and we have to accept it.

Lastly, Chretien is just really, I mean really stupid.

sorry, sweetcoz, probably didnt respond the best way. Yes, the way seats are distributed in the commons is appropriate is correct. As much as I don't like that Ontario and Quebec have the majority, thats where the population is, so that is the way it has to be.

The Senate however is different. If it were elected, and have equal representation, similar to the American senate, it would be better for the country.

alright - bad things about canada from my point of view (a point of view that doesn't give a shit about politics)...

Toronto - full of a bunch of racist pissed off people who are all crusty backstabers - there are some cool people in the city, but it's definitly not the most friendly city in Canada (feels very American)
Taxs - at least in ontario...
that's about it... there is a lot of desrimination in southern ontario towards everyone from the french in quebec to the many many different cultures around the city (Toronto)... there's too much attitude in Ontario.

well, i think chretien is a great economic leader. He was the finance minister for trudeau, so he has a lot of background. Plus, now we are running large surpluses and paying off the debt.

The private sector can do anything a government can, and turn a profit, not just waste billions. Politicians are useless fucks trying to keep their place in society. The taxes are quite high here it seems. Also yes there arern't any black people in Canada I live in Salmon Arm and we have the leader of the communist party of Canada and around 12 black people in my school of 600. Go to Vancouver though and theres more asians then Caucasians in the schools.
