there are soooo many better boots than that. I rode them for 2 years and I thought they were the shit but then I got some Dalbello Krypton Rampages and they are soo much better. My heel is locked in and they are stiff.
with the 1080s (foil) everytime I landed switch on something bigger than 6 feet, my heel would lift up and it would hurt like a bitch. And they were waaay too soft. Stiffer boots are better cause you get more response and all the flex and whatnot goes into the ski, not your boots. This means that when you lean foward, instead of your boots flexing, your skis will flex, and you will do a nose butter.
the 1080s also were bunk for butters. my heel always came up. If you want a good boot then you should look into the SPK, Head Mojo, or Dalbello Krypton Rampages.
get the salomon's new falcon gun. it's gonna be the baddest boot on the mountain this year... much like how the gun promodel was the best boot last year.
i think that part of this may have been that it's a wide boot, while the krypton's are much narrower, making it fit more snuggley around the foot. if you have wide feet, like me, you wouldn't have any problems with heel slippage or butters. im not saying they're stiff, cause they're not at all, but if they fit you properly they work well, though if you're into big mountain i would suggest a stifferboot like the gun.
bottom line is you have to be fitted for the correct boot, and if you are interested in the foils, look at last years as there is no difference except the colors.
no my foot is soooo fat and my 1080s fit me perfectly but I would have all the buckles maxed out and my heel would still slip. I live in Alaska so I ski mostly powder and the 1080 is waaaaaay too soft. I thought that was the best you could get for a park boot when I was at Northstar but now that I have some Krypton Rampages, Im way stoked on this season with a more responsive boot. And they don't cost $750, they cost $275. They're waaaay cheaper than Salomon boots.
thanks guys see i need a good boot to help prevent shin splints aliitle more than my technicas, now i no that some of it is my fault but i want a good comfy and decent flex boot.....so i think i will go with the foils, i looked at the spks but i like they are just plain ugly...
