so ive been running and practicing for soccer and alot of the times i get this pretty bad pain at the very top of my shin where the kneecap muscle thinger connects to my shin. it seems like its osgood schlatters style but i dont have the bump that the other kids i know have. some days when i run im fine and it doesnt hurt but others it does hurt and it takes a day of rest and ice for the pain to go away when i run. ive done a little research and im basically gonna just ice and stretch it alot. anyone have any suggestions?
i wear running shoes....iv ebeen running on the side of roads and my knees were fine. then i ran on gravel like stuff at the parc and that hurt my knee. maybe it was improper stretching. usually when i run i spend 15min stretching. when i played soccer and ran at the track i stretched only a little bit, but i dont think thats all of it
im not sure exactly either, i get that sort of pain too when i play soccer. For me it didnt hurt too much but it was just really uncomfortable, like i could still run good, it just felt really weird. Im not really sure what caused it though, im thinking maybe growing pains? although i didnt really grow all that much. Or like you said it could easilly be not stretching well enough. stretching is key.
well the main reason why i think its not growing pains or early osgoodschlatters is because i havent grown much since last summer and i think im done growing taller for the most part.
i had the same thing you are talking about when i ran cross country. the trainer told me i had shin splints, there is no real way to get rid of them but running on soft surfaces like grass really helps. mine got pretty bad and my whole shin area started to hurt and it would hurt everytime i ran for about 4 mounths after cross country was over, so i hope that doesnt happen to you
i've had this at times on both my knees from soccer. there's a way to tape it but it's hard to explane. thats just what i did. there's also those band things you can buy but i think you look like a pussy with those on.
fuck man i got shin splints once from the treampoline and they were such a bitch. just really annoying, but not really like Painfull. they just went away randomly though.
